DONNA J. LITHERLAND

Donna Jean Litherland, 82, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017.

She was born July 12, 1935, in Harrisburg, Illinois, the daughter of Jeff and Goldie Mae (Hunt) Aldridge.  On August 6, 1954, she married James Litherland in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. 

Donna was an active member of Evangelical United Methodist Church holding many positions including chairman of the Board of Trustees.  She was a homemaker and loved the time she spent with her family and her sorority sisters of Beta Sigma Phi.

Her community was important, as she unselfishly donated much of her time to many charities and personally collected Christmas items and clothing each year for mentally handicapped children.

Left to cherish Donna’s memory is her husband of 63 years, Jim; children Steve Litherland and his wife Teresa of North Port, Florida, Kathy Jean Litherland of Harrisburg, Illinois, and, Jeffery Scott Litherland and his wife Sherrie of North Port, Florida; and three grandchildren Nicholas, Emily and Dylan Litherland all of North Port, Florida.   

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Clara and Jeannetta.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 19, 2017, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with burial immediately following in Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Donald Ray Brown

Donald Ray Brown, 85, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving daughter, Telisa Brown. He was born on April 26, 1932 in Wabash County, Illinois the son of Arthur and Dolly (Alcorn) Brown.

Don faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a very hard worker and dedicated boilermaker. He enjoyed the company of his friends and family. Don loved being outdoors, mushroom hunting and spending time on the river fishing. He was a member of the VFW and the Eagles. Don will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Don is survived by his children, Telisa Brown of Mount Carmel, Kathy Foote of Mount Carmel and Todd (Patty Ewing) Brown of Grayville, IL; brother, Art (Beverly) Brown of Mount Carmel; sisters, Shirley (Wayne) Schroyer and Lois Clark; grandchildren, Sierra Brown, David Brown and Jennifer Vanfleet; two great grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Donnie Brown, Gil Clark and Kevin Clark; two brothers, Harold Brown and Ron Brown.

In keeping with Don’s wishes no formal services will be held. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Glenn E. Schrader

Glenn E. Schrader, 80, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, Indiana. He was born March 28, 1937 in Vincennes, Indiana the son of Frank M. and H. Evangeline (Leek) Schrader. He graduated from St. Francisville High School. Glenn married Mary Katherine Hering on August 8, 1959.

Glenn’s working career was in electronics sales. He attended four years of college at Eastern Illinois University. Glenn was an avid sports fan and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Glenn loved all genres of music. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Glenn will be remembered by his wife of fifty eight years, Mary Schrader of Mount Carmel; children, Glynnis Fisher of Mesa, AZ and Karla Schrader of Mount Carmel, IL Michael (Susan) Schrader of Knoxville; one granddaughter, Melissa Fisher. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Richison officiating. A private family burial will follow at St. Sebastian Catholic Cemetery in Wabash County, Illinois.

Family and friends may gather for a Memorial Visitation from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Alveina Faye Dill, 84

Alveina Faye Dill, 84, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at her residence surrounded by family.

Alveina was born August 18, 1933, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Wesley J. and Clara B. (Webb) Perry. On June 5, 1948, she married Bill G. Dill in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Together they ran Dill Fish Market specializing in caviar. Alveina was a member of Gospel Kingdom Church.

Left to cherish Alveina’s memory are her children William G. Dill and his wife Debra of Keensburg, James R. Dill and his wife Brenda of Mt. Carmel, and foster daughter Rebecca Eads and husband Bobby of Mt. Carmel; great-granddaughter, that Alveina raised, Erica Paige Dill of Mt. Carmel; brother Charles “Sonny” Perry of DuQuoin, Illinois; five grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; and, six great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Bill of 65 years, siblings Arvel, Leonard, Paul and Richard Perry, Juanita Grubb, Clara Alena Overline and Mary L. Campbell and grandson Robbie Dill.

Visitation for Alveina will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Gospel Kingdom Church, 1440 West Third Street. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor John Peach officiating. Burial service will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
