Catherine L. Hasemmyer

Catherine L. Hasemmyer, age 86 of Greenville, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Cedarhurst in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Ryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. For those who desire, memorials may be made to the Greenville Free Methodist Church or to Bond County Hospice.

Catherine Lee Hasenmyer, the daughter of James Arthur Hasenmyer and Mary Belle Byrne Hasenmyer, was born on April 13, 1931 at home in Newtonville, Indiana. When Catherine was 6 her family moved to Chrisney, IN. The family moved to Bean Station, TN in 1946 and to Greenville in 1948. Catherine graduated from Greenville High School in 1949 here and from Greenville College in 1952. Catherine then graduated from the University of Illinois with her Masters in Education in 1957. She received her advanced certificate in Home Economics Education in 1962. Catherine taught at the Mt.Carmel High School from 1952 until 1988 and in the evenings taught night classes for Wabash Valley College. Catherine moved back to Greenville in 1988 to care for her parents in their declining years. Here in Greenville Catherine worked part time for Sutton's Decorating and did sewing for them for several years.

Catherine is survived by siblings: Marvin L.(wife the Late Joyce) Hasenmyer of Greenville, Mary Ann (husband the late Anthony) DeStefano of Mt.Carmel, Jane (Clint) Maxwell of Sun Prairie, WI, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Catherine is preceded in death by her parents and her 4 day old sister Carol Sue Hasenmyer. 

Catherine is a member of the I.E.A., the N.E.A., the Bond County Retired Teachers, had attended the Tennyson, IN. Free Methodist Church, the Mt.Carmel Free Methodist Church where she served in many different capacities, and is now a member of the Greenville Free Methodist Church
