Paula E. Baumgart

Paula E. Baumgart, 60, of Mount Carmel, IL passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in Wabash County, IL. She was born July 9, 1957 in Mount Carmel, IL the daughter of Gordon VanGilder and Alberta Rae (Brown) Baumgart. She married her high school sweetheart, John Baumgart on July 31, 1976 and he survives.

Paula was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the best “mimi” to her four grandchildren as they were the center of her world. She loved spending time with her family. The Thanksgiving Holiday was very special to Paula, and everyone looked forward to the day with her. Paula enjoyed tending to her garden and cooking special meals for her family. She was a 1975 graduate of Mount Carmel High School and then attained an Associate’s Degree at Wabash Valley College. Her faith and her walk with the Lord was an important part of her life. She was active in Bible study fellowship and certainly a prayer warrior for her friends and family. Paula will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Paula will be remembered by her loving husband of forty one years, John Baumgart; mother, Rae Baumgart; Children, Julie Baumgart of Clarksville, VA, Miriam Baumgart of Mt. Vernon, IL, Stephanie Baumgart of Austin, TX, Joseph Baumgart of Durango, CO; grandchildren, Oliver & Levi Baumgart, Liliana & Liam Grubb; brother, Peter VanGilder; sister, Jeanne Spencer and several nieces and nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by her father; sister, Linda Stevens and brother, Mike VanGilder.

Family and friends are invited to gather 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 6, 2017 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 2:30 p.m., Monday, November 6, 2017 also in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Minister Steve Akins officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
