Shay Seals, 66, of Corydon, Indiana, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, November 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Per Shay’s wishes, a private family burial will be held at Lick Prairie Cemetery.

Shay was born to the late Joe and Betty Coomer in Princeton, Indiana on March 12, 1958. She married Dwight Seals April 1, 1979, and enjoyed 45 years together before her passing. Surviving is her husband; father, Joe Coomer of Princeton, Indiana and sister, Rhea Pea of Camby, Indiana. Preceding Shay in death was her mother, Betty Coomer.

In October of 1983, she was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Ghost on April 9, 1984. Her relationship with Jesus was the most important thing in her life.

Dennis W. Raber, 80

Dennis W. Raber, 80, of Bellmont, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 25, 1944 in Princeton, Indiana, the son of Carl A. and Joy E. (Compton) Raber. Dennis married Mary Frances Peter on July 3, 1965, and together they celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage, centered around their faith and family before her passing on April 22, 2024.

Dennis worked at Snap-on Tools for thirty-seven years where he started on the production line and retired as supervisor. He loved his community and served as fire chief for seven years and on the fire district board for twenty years. Dennis enjoyed fishing, carpentry, and model trains. Some of his fondest memories was taking long vacations with the family to Minnesota and traveling to Branson, Missouri with Francy. Dennis was an active member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church where he served on the church board for seven years, organized several events to help meet the needs of the church and was always willing to help when needed. Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Dennis will be remembered by his two sons, Rodney Raber, and Charles Raber; two daughters, Vera Jane Thompson and husband, Robie, Michelle Dickey and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Cassandra (CJ) Malloy, Trever Raber, Grace Raber, Miranda Raber, Austin (Anna) Thompson, Ashton Thompson, Dalton Dickey; four great grandsons; siblings, Sara Roberts, and Carl (Kathy) Raber; many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Francy Raber; sister, Donna Raber.

Linda L. (Hunt) Lopez, 80, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois peacefully passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be held, Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, Illinois with Tara Powell officiating. A burial will be held in Highland Memorial Cemetery.

She was born to the late William Norris Hunt, Sr. and Selma Erlene Coburn on March 15, 1944, in Princeton, Indiana. She has 3 children: Gary Ray (Lana Jo) Hunt, Donna Kay (Jack) Isham, and Robert LeeRoy (Linda) Hutton who survive. Also surviving are a brother, Robert Hunt of Princeton, Indiana and a sister, Donna Sue Lamey of Fort Branch, Indiana; 8 grandchildren: Melissa (Corey) Horn, Jacky (Natalie) Isham, Jeffery (Kimberly) Isham, Jessica (Isaac) Dill, Misty Hutton, Robert Hutton, Linda Kay Young, and Emily Edwards, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Linda in death are her parents; siblings William Norris Hunt, Jr., Henry Ray Hunt, Jeannie Davis, and Jerry Hunt.

Linda loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking, doing word searches and puzzles, was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, and loved her dogs. She was of the Catholic faith.

Joyce Ellen (Seals) Perry, 72, of Belmont, IL. passed away on November 5, 2024 at Country Side Manor at Mt. Vernon, IL. Joyce was born July 5, 1952 in Mt. Carmel, IL. to the late George Seals and Dorthy (Lynch) Seals.

Joy is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Odom and special friend, Ronald Kay. She is survived by her son, Chad and grandchildren, Michelle Webb, Sarah Odom, Marcus Odom, and Morgan Odom. She is survived by her great grandchildren Adara, Gabe Webb, Colton, and Shayne Gill. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Barb and Bob Farmer, Frank Seals, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Joyce was preceded in death by 2 sisters Patricia Perry, Lathryn Vanmatre. She was preceded in death by brothers Arthur and Danny Seals.

Joyce graduated Mt. Carmel High School and Colborn’s Academy of Beauty Culture. Joyce retired from Champion Laboratories. Joyce loved her two children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her fondest memories were giving birth to her two children. Her hobbies were dancing, swimming, sunbathing, boating, and camping.

Joyce was cremated and a celebration of life is planned for a later date.

Carolyn Ann Majors, 68

Carolyn Ann Majors, 68, of Bellmont, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on March 28, 1956, in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of Clifford and Katherine (Smith) Kendall. She married Robert Majors on May 19, 2018, and they have celebrated six years of loving marriage.

Carolyn worked for twenty years as a supervisor at Champion Laboratories and was a dedicated hard-working employee. Carolyn had a passion for camping. As a young girl and into adulthood, she made many memories camping and fishing at Lady Bird Bridge. She always remembered catching the biggest fish there. Carolyn dearly loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Carolyn leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert; two sons, Chris (Jessica Wampler) Yokel of Albion, IL, Kevin Yokel of Crossville, IL; grandchildren, Ravyn Yokel, Phoenix Young; great grandchildren, Universe Gibbs, Alex Gibbs; sisters, Sherry Kendall, Kelly Nichols; brothers, Ronnie Kendall, Danny Kendall; several loved nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clayton Kendall.

Gerald “Jerry” McConnell, 64

Gerald “Jerry” McConnell, 64, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 26, 1960, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Hershel and Dorothy (Ringham) McConnell.  He married Carol Corder on June 2, 1984, and they have celebrated forty years of loving marriage.

Jerry worked as a truck driver, and he dearly loved his job.  He started working for Allendale Gravel when he was 17 years old and continued for forty-five plus years.  For a period of time, he would haul watermelons and potatoes all over the country, and also hauled fuel for Andrews Oil. He knew everything there was to know about trucking and enjoyed visiting with all of his trucking buddies.  He thought of his fellow employees as family.  Jerry was an avid Trump supporter.  He had a special love for his dog, Bryer.  Jerry was a loving husband, father and grandfather with his grandchildren being the light of his life.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol; sons, Douglas (Stephen) Jones, Jeremy (Emily) Penrod; Daughter, Heather (Matt) Thombleson; grandchildren, Tristan, Landon, Brooklyn and Annaliese Penrod, Sophie and Elle Jones, Gregory and Nolan Thombleson, Austin McConnell; his biological mother, Patricia (Irwin) Grinberg; brother, David (Sheryl) Grinberg; sisters, Audrey Mitch, and Charlene (John) Wingett; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Linda S. Doan, 73

Linda S. Doan, 73, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Oakview Nursing Home & Rehab surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 18, 1951 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of William and Evelyn (Brock) Mayberry. Linda married John T. Doan on February 14, 1976 and together they enjoyed thirty-four years of marriage before his passing on October 3, 2010.

Linda will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Throughout Linda’s life she loved to crochet, enjoyed reading books, and shopping trips with her daughter. Linda held her family close to her heart and loved to spend time with them. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed keeping up with their activities. She attended Heartland Worship Center. Linda will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Nicole Marie Morgan, 42, of Keensburg, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in Gibson County, Indiana. She was born on July 24, 1982, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Lisa and Ron Fannin, and Jeff and Victoria Collins.

Nicole was a member of the Mount Carmel High School Graduating Class of 2000 and belonged to the Carpenters Local Union No. 224. She loved motorcycles, listening to music and fishing. Spending time with her family was important to her, especially time spent with her children. Nicole was a kind and caring person whose presence on this earth will be dearly missed.

Nicole leaves behind her daughter, Josilynn Rose Marie Morgan; son Willie Paul Wheeler; parents; brothers, Johnathan Matthew Lee Schrodt, Brandon Paul Fannin; sisters, Rachel Collins, Briana Lee Fannin; several loved nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

George C. Harper, Jr., 78

George C. Harper, Jr., 78, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, at his residence.

He was born July 15, 1946, in Milltown, Indiana, to George C. Harper, Sr. and Ora L. (Greene) Harper. George was the oldest of four siblings. He was a 1964 graduate from Milltown High School, in Milltown, Indiana. George attended Wabash Valley College. He served in the United States Army, HHC 1st Battalion 30th Infantry, from 1965-1970, receiving a National Defense Service Medal.

George worked in various jobs from being a butcher, mechanic, and spending his later years in the oil service industry. He loved being a husband, dad, papaw/grandpa, and great grandpa. George was a skilled mechanic and welder and enjoyed tinkering with all types of motors and tractors. He enjoyed working in his garage repairing his kids and grandkids vehicles. George loved the Lord and attended Heartland Worship Center.

He is survived by his four children, Caroline (Charles) Trimble of Allendale, Michele Harper of Bridgeport, Bryan Harper of Mt. Carmel, and Loretta (Brian) Monts of Olney; grandchildren, Brooke (Chase) Ziegler, Daylen Trimble, Cecilia (Cory) Vinnedge, Faith (Austin) Canizales, Jonas (Brianna) Trimble, Gabriel (Shelby) Trimble, Olivia (John) Cusick, Sara (Nick) Kieffer, Lynsey (Chad) Pixley, Miranda McCowen, Cailtyn (Alex) Mitchell, Colby Monts; great-grandchildren, Dean, Luke, John, Zane, and Jack Ziegler; Charleigh, Eleanor, Theodore, and Alexander Vinnedge, Oaklie Trimble, Camden, Calrissia, and Cathaleen Kieffer, Carter Pixley, Raylan McCowen, Brooklyn, Braelyn, and Gatlin Mitchell.

Helen Kolb, 98

Helen Kolb, 98, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 19, 1926, in Gibson County, Indiana, the daughter of Harold G. and Dorothy A. (Richardson) Waddle. She married Paul W. Kolb on February 28, 1946, and they were blessed with seventy-one years of marriage until his passing on June 21, 2017.

Helen worked for many years as a cook for District #348 and St. Mary Catholic School. Helen was active in a bridge group for many years and looked forward to playing at the local senior center. She made many friendships at the quilting club she belonged to at the Christian Church. She loved doing handiwork, and was an expert at sewing, quilting and crochet. Helen had a loving heart, and it brought her great joy to be able to gift her creations to everyone who impacted her life. Many friends, doctors, nurses and acquaintances through the years were blessed with her gifts, along with thousands of newborn babies were gifted a special hat made by Helen’s hands. Helen loved her family dearly and was a very proud Mama to her five grandsons. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and her presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Frances B. McCorkle, 100, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away10/31/2024, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab surrounded by her loving family.

McCorkle on November 15, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. They celebrated 80 years of marriage together. To this union, 2 children were born: a daughter, Sharon McCorkle Shivers and Steven McCorkle.

Left to cherish Frances’s memory are her children Sharon McCorkle Shivers (special friend Larry Jolley) of Evansville, Indiana and Steven (Chris) McCorkle of Mt. Robert E. “Bob” Brewer, 85, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away October 30, 2024, at Wabash General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois with Father Robert Zwilling officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery with military rights performed by the Mt. Carmel Honor Guard.

Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois on November 4, 2024, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. with burial immediately following at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel.

Bob was born to the late Richard and Anna Louise (Ramsey) Brewer on July 29, 1939, in Mt. Carmel. He attended Wabash Valley College and then went on to Lockyear Business College and graduated with an associate’s degree.

He married Barbara J. Jeffers on June 9, 1963, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois and to this union 3 children were born: Sheri (Tim) Carpenter, Christina (Eric) More, and Bradley (Christy) Brewer.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Brewer; daughters, Sheri (Tim) Carpenter, Christina (Eric) More, and son, Bradley (Christy) Brewer; sister Joyce Young; brother-in-law, Don Dunkel; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Jeffers; grandchildren, Lauren (Philip) Hocking, Steven (Sarah) Zimmer, Derek (Cassie) Zimmer, Ashley More, Breanna More, Taryn (Luke) Morgan, Lexi Brewer, and Logan Brewer as well as great-grandchildren, Isaac, Eli, Benjamin Hocking, and Blake and Zoey Zimmer.

Bob proudly served in the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Lake Champlain CVS39 from 1961-1963. After returning to Mt. Carmel, he worked for Snap-On Tools as an industrial engineer for 24 years until his retirement in 2000.

He loved street rodding, especially Corvettes and Motorcycles and enjoyed doing car shows.

Bob and his wife resided and enjoyed winters in Florida for 19 years and made many special friends there.

Preceding Bob in death were his parents, and sister, Patti Dunkel.

Nancy Eileen Walsh, 59

Nancy Eileen Walsh, 59, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Meadowood Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Grayville, Illinois.

She was born on January 5, 1965, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of John and Mary (Reilly) Walsh. Nancy graduated high school and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, receiving a master’s degree in theater. On September 7, 1991, she married John W. Clancy in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Nancy was a professional actress in New York City for many years. She and her husband, of Clancy Productions, toured the world. Nancy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel.

Left to cherish Nancy’s memory is her husband, John, of 33 years; a brother, Tom Walsh of Watchung, New Jersey; and a cousin Jacqueline Miller.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Mary Walsh.

Donald E. “Sonny” Allen, 94

Donald E. “Sonny” Allen, 94, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab. He was born on October 9, 1930, in Wabash County, Illinois, the son of Murrell and Marie (Tisdale) Allen. He was married to Rosa Lee (Ritter) Allen until her passing on December 11, 2019.

Don faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He had a camp on the Wabash River in Allendale, Illinois where he enjoyed spending time fishing and admiring the great outdoors. Don liked riding bikes and spending time with friends and family. He was a great caretaker to Rosa Lee when her health began to fail. Don was a kind man and will be missed by those who knew him.

Don leaves behind one brother, Glenn Allen; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Rosa Lee; siblings, Betty Richardson, Wilma Smith, Joyce Doan, Richard Allen, Bill Allen and an infant sister.

Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Allendale Cemetery where Don will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Rosa Lee Allen.

Uriah Daniel Howder, 16

Uriah Daniel Howder, 16, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Wabash General Hospital. He was born on February 4, 2008, in Evansville, IN, the son of Scott Howder and Brittany (Alldredge) Howder.

Uriah was a sophomore at Mount Carmel High School. He loved spending time with his family and was a great big brother. Uriah enjoyed playing video games with his brothers. He was a protector and loved watching over his brothers. He was the happiest driving around listening to music and being with his friends. Uriah also enjoyed spending time with his girlfriend. He attended Keensburg Christian Church. Uriah will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

Uriah will be remembered by his mother, Brittany Howder of Grayville, IL; father, Scott (Robin Rodgers) Howder of Bellmont, IL; siblings, Wyatt Howder, Brantley Howder and Mackenzie Hodgson all of Bellmont, IL; maternal grandparents, Derris and Eugenia Alldredge of Grayville, IL; paternal grandparents, Danny and Rebecca Howder of Bellmont, IL; girlfriend, Lexi Bruce; cousins, Braxton Alldredge, Alyssa Alldredge, Jacob Moudy, Ezra Howder, and many more.

Linda (Lodwig) Chenoweth, 81

Linda (Lodwig) Chenoweth, 81, of Edwards County, passed from this life to her heavenly home on October 13, 2024 at Reflections Memory Care Residence in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

She was born on March 21, 1943 in Edwards County, Illinois to Leslie (Bud) Lodwig and Thelma (Seals) Lodwig. She graduated from Edwards County High School and attended the University of Illinois in Urbana. While earning her BS degree in Home Economics, she met and married Amos Chenoweth, an Engineering student at the university, on August 9, 1964. After graduation, she served as director of a Project Head Start preschool in Champaign, Illinois, one of the first integrated Head Start preschools. During their early years of marriage, Linda devoted her time to caring for their children, teaching preschool classes, and serving as a volunteer in their church. As their children grew, Linda felt a call to full-time ministry in the church. She returned to school and earned her Master of Divinity degree at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri in 1983. Following graduation, she was ordained as a minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on May 22, 1983. Her first ministry after ordination was as a chaplain to the Emergency Children's Home in St. Louis, a home for battered and at-risk children. She then served as an interim ministry specialist in a number of churches in the state of Missouri. She also served as a called minister in Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) in Missouri, Nebraska, and Florida before retiring in 2006. In addition to serving local churches, she also served the larger church as a board member of the Disciples of Christ Historical Society.

Linda loved community and had a gift for hospitality. Wherever she lived she would find or help form communities of caring. She loved the holidays and any excuse to decorate, make special food, start a new “tradition" and entertain. She passed this tradition on to her children and grandchildren. Her love of the arts expressed itself in her home and in her passion for quilts and fabric. Linda was an avid reader and could always be found with a tote bag full of books of theology, history, quilting magazines and a crossword puzzle. She shared her love of books with her grandchildren and made sure their bookshelves were stocked with beautiful books representing diverse peoples and cultures. She delighted in her family and in the lives of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Amos and her two daughters, DeAnne (Joe Hinshaw) Chenoweth of Harrisonburg, VA, and Sarah (Clark) West of Wadsworth, Ohio along with five grandchildren: Bethany Hinshaw, Carolyn Hinshaw, Cecilia West, Anne West, and Amos West. She is also survived by several siblings – Janis Spath, Ed Lodwig, Nancy Roth, Barbara Northern, and Stephen Lodwig. She is preceded in death by her parents, two siblings – Charles Lodwig and Mary Blackwood, and a son, John Chenoweth, who died as an infant.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, October 18 at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in West Salem, Illinois. Delbert E. Norman, 87

Delbert E. Norman, 87, of Grayville, Illinois, formerly of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 9:25 p.m. at his residence in Grayville.

Delbert was the son of Alvie Sanford Norman and Josie M. (Golding) Norman, born January 10, 1937, Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Delbert was a 1956 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.

He was drafted and went into the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he lived in Mt. Carmel and worked at Pacific Press and Shear for 38 years before his retirement in 2003. While at Pacific, he was a journeyman machinist and later took a company job as Quality Control Supervisor. Delbert left that job to go back to the union as a machinist until his retirement.

Delbert loved sports and played in all of them while in school. He, along with Donnie Dean, worked in and managed the Mt. Carmel Little League for years, turning out some of the best baseball players in Mt. Carmel. He was very proud of them.

Delbert’s hobbies were golf, fishing, gardening, and watching the L.A. Dodgers, the Boston Celtics, and the Green Bay Packers. He made a trip to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to watch them play with his stepson, Dr. Steve Reynolds and grandchildren Alex and Alicia Garner.

He belonged to several organizations. Delbert was a member of Ancient Free & Accepted Mason Lodge #39. He was a 32-degree Master Mason, Worthy Patron of then Hermosa Chapter O.E.S. #517, Albion, Illinois, White Shrine of Jerusalem Bethlehem Shrine #2, Evansville, Indiana, Ainad Shriners, East St. Louis, Illinois, Wabash Valley Shrine Club and at one time a member of the Ainad Motor Patrol Unit of Ainad Temple. Delbert was a member of American Legion, Grayville, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Emma Lou (Reynolds) Norman, of Grayville, Illinois; his children, John Curtis Norman of Tennessee, Gene (Norman) Minniear and wife of Michigan, Shari Gail Martin and her husband Ed of Tennessee and Kimberly Sue (Norman) Minniear of Mt. Carmel.

Also surviving are three step-children; Dr. Steve Reynolds and wife Trisha of Indiana, Hilda and husband Mickey Medley of South Carolina and Bonnie and husband, Dave McDonald of North Carolina; grandsons, Jonathon “Jay” Martin Kail, Andrew Norman (Taylor) Mathew Minniear; granddaughters, Kristen Martin, Chelsea Norman (Aaron) and Meaghan Riddle (Travis); great grandchildren, Noah Riley Martin, Kayden Bline Martin Emma Caselier Martin, Ryker James Martin, Ellison Riddle and Weston Riddle; step grandchildren, Alicia and Jordon Roberts of South Carolina, Beth and Winston Griffin of North Carolina, Chris and Brad Hodgemier of Florida and Kasi and Justin Valjet of Massachusetts; step great grandchildren, Layla and Axel Roberts of South Carolina, Gage and Gatlin Griffin of North Carolina, Nate Apel and wife Brianna of Florida, Aidan Apel serving in the U.S. Navy, and Abby Carey of Florida; a great great step granddaughter, Adalien Belle Apel of Florida; a sister, Hazel Jordan of Tennessee, and a brother, Rev. Lee and Dixie Norman of Oklahoma.

Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings, R. Ellis Norman, Sandford Norman, Eddie Norman and Verda M. Miller, and a very special grandson, Alex Garner.

Charles Everett “Chuck” Morgan, 62, of Jasper, Indiana, formerly of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Cathedral Healthcare Center in Jasper, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Chuck was born November 26, 1961, the son of Jim and Laura (Lambert) Morgan in New Jersey. He worked at WAVE in Mt. Carmel.

Chuck loved riding his scooter around town. He enjoyed fishing, race cars (the louder and faster the better), attending the car races at Haubstadt and going to WVC basketball games.

Chuck is survived by his brother Jay Morgan of Jasper, Indiana; aunts Judy Lambert, Lynn Hinderliter, and Karen Boyd all of Mt. Carmel; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Leatha T. Brown, 97

Leatha T. Brown, 97, of Mt. Carmel, IL, joyfully transitioned from this life to her eternal home in heaven on Saturday, October 5, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 13, 1927, on the family farm in Sharpsburg, IL, Leatha was one of three triplet daughters (Leatha, Wreatha, and Leda) born to Ora E. and Katherine (Purcell) Redfern. She married William E. Brown on May 17, 1958, and together they shared fifty-two years of marriage until Bill's passing on November 14, 2010.

In her younger years, Leatha worked at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, where she met the love of her life, Bill. After moving to Mt. Carmel, she was employed at Thordason Meisner, Pacific Press & Shear, and the City of Mt. Carmel Water Department.

Leatha was a dedicated member of Parkview Christian Church, where she found great joy in serving wherever she was needed. She also loved volunteering for Caring Closet and helping with Sunday morning kitchen fellowship. Her church family was an extension of her own, holding a very special place in her heart.

The most cherished title Leatha held was "Nanny." Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to boast about their accomplishments. Leatha had a sharp wit, a warm sense of humor, and an infectious laugh she carried with her through her final days. Her playful spirit was paired with a soft heart and a deep love for others. The grace of Jesus transformed her life, and she passionately desired for others to experience that same grace.

Leatha is survived by her children, Kim (Jay) Goodson of Mt. Carmel, IL, and Bill (Teresa) Brown of Mokena, IL; her adoring grandchildren, Tyler (Morgan) Brown of Chandler, AZ, Lauren (Noah) Thompson of Mt. Carmel, IL, Connor (Abbie) Brown of Noblesville, IN, Emily Goodson and fiancé Carter Adams of Nashville, TN, and Ellison Goodson of Mt. Carmel, IL. Leatha also cherished her great-grandson, Henry William Brown of Chandler, AZ, and eagerly awaited the arrival of two more great-grandchildren in January 2025.

Leatha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; her parents; her sisters, Wreatha Riva, Leda Redfern, and Mary Lambert; her brothers, Eugene and Bruce Redfern.
