Frances B. McCorkle, 100, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away10/31/2024, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab surrounded by her loving family.
Services will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, with Gary Underwood officiating. A burial will follow in Phillipstown Cemetery in Crossville, Illinois.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel.
Frances was born to the late Ervin J. Graham and Rosia Avis Pierce on November 20, 1923, in Edwards County, Illinois. She married William L. McCorkle on November 15, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. They celebrated 80 years of marriage together. To this union, 2 children were born: a daughter, Sharon McCorkle Shivers and Steven McCorkle.
Left to cherish Frances’s memory are her children Sharon McCorkle Shivers (special friend Larry Jolley) of Evansville, Indiana and Steven (Chris) McCorkle of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; grandchildren, Cindy (Dan) Morel, Brad (Will) Rutter, Chris (Dan) Patterson, Jamie (Chris) McCorkle, Stefanie (Don) Price; great grandchildren, Elliot McCorkle, Sarah McCorkle, Kaleigh Price, Kara Price, Allie (Josh) Bertram, Rachel Wigginton (Jeffrey Whitlock), Brady Patterson, Emilie Patterson; and great-great grandchildren Weston and Jaemyn Wigginton, Jasper Whitlock, and Aubrey Bertram.
Preceding Frances in death were her parents; husband William L. McCorkle; 1 brother and 3 sisters.
Frances was a member of Keensburg Methodist Church and later in her life attended Crossville United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling, camping, music, and reading.
