Dennis W. Raber, 80

Dennis W. Raber, 80, of Bellmont, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 25, 1944 in Princeton, Indiana, the son of Carl A. and Joy E. (Compton) Raber. Dennis married Mary Frances Peter on July 3, 1965, and together they celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage, centered around their faith and family before her passing on April 22, 2024.

Dennis worked at Snap-on Tools for thirty-seven years where he started on the production line and retired as supervisor. He loved his community and served as fire chief for seven years and on the fire district board for twenty years. Dennis enjoyed fishing, carpentry, and model trains. Some of his fondest memories was taking long vacations with the family to Minnesota and traveling to Branson, Missouri with Francy. Dennis was an active member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church where he served on the church board for seven years, organized several events to help meet the needs of the church and was always willing to help when needed. Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Dennis will be remembered by his two sons, Rodney Raber, and Charles Raber; two daughters, Vera Jane Thompson and husband, Robie, Michelle Dickey and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Cassandra (CJ) Malloy, Trever Raber, Grace Raber, Miranda Raber, Austin (Anna) Thompson, Ashton Thompson, Dalton Dickey; four great grandsons; siblings, Sara Roberts, and Carl (Kathy) Raber; many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Francy Raber; sister, Donna Raber.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2024, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2024, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church with Father Patrick Peter and Father Robert Zwilling as co- celebrant. A private family burial will take place at a later date at St. Sebastian Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dennis’ memory to Linda E. White Hospice House or St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Envelopes will be at the church or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
