Donald E. “Sonny” Allen, 94, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab. He was born on October 9, 1930, in Wabash County, Illinois, the son of Murrell and Marie (Tisdale) Allen. He was married to Rosa Lee (Ritter) Allen until her passing on December 11, 2019.
Don faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He had a camp on the Wabash River in Allendale, Illinois where he enjoyed spending time fishing and admiring the great outdoors. Don liked riding bikes and spending time with friends and family. He was a great caretaker to Rosa Lee when her health began to fail. Don was a kind man and will be missed by those who knew him.
Don leaves behind one brother, Glenn Allen; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Rosa Lee; siblings, Betty Richardson, Wilma Smith, Joyce Doan, Richard Allen, Bill Allen and an infant sister.
Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Allendale Cemetery where Don will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Rosa Lee Allen.
