Teresa Lynne Deisher 61

Teresa Lynne Deisher 61, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on December 31, 1964, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, the daughter of Bobby Wayne Eads and Doris Jean (Wright) Eads.

Teresa worked for over twenty years as a nurse and took great pride in the care she gave her patients. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and having family get togethers. Teresa loved shopping, traveling, and cooking for her family. She also had a great love for animals. She was talented at drawing, loved music and singing, and was of Christian Faith. Teresa will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Teresa leaves behind her daughters, Carrie Loeffler and husband, Lance; Heather Smith and husband David; grandchildren, Aubrey, Kennedy and Jett Loeffler, Keira Whitehead, Roman and Myla Vizcarra, Miles and Chloe Smith; sister, Sandra (Doug) Kepley; stepmother, Becky Eads; several loved nieces and nephews.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Terry Eads; sister, Sheryl Dudley.

Timothy Knight, 72

Timothy Knight, 72, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 12, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 22, 1954, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Robert “Red” Knight, and Margarette “June” (Burkes) Knight. He married Jackie Davis on April 8, 1977, and together they celebrated forty-nine years of marriage.

Tim was a proud 1972 graduate of Central High School. He was a loving husband, father and papa. He never met a stranger. He was an avid drummer in many bands over his long career, playing with Time Elapse, Freedom Railroad, Crystal Sounds, Family Tradition with Dink Richardson, Chlores Worlow and the Country Troubadours, Styl Country, Pete and the Country Boys, Star Bound, Gary Dawson Band, and he also sat in with Charlie Daniels Band, REO Speedwagon, Fats Domino and Little Jimmy Dickens. A quote from his grandson, “Papa was the best drummer out there!”.

Tim celebrated his 72nd birthday doing what he loved with family and friends, at a baseball game, thanks to the Evansville Otters for throwing him a party. He even got to throw out the first pitch to his grandson. He wouldn’t have been able to make this game had it not been for a great friend, Amy Phillips, bringing her family’s wheelchair van over to pick him up and bring him home. Up until his illness, he hadn’t missed a home game at Bosse Field in fifteen years. His impact within the organization was well known as his life was celebrated with a moment of silence in front of almost 8,000 fans this weekend. Tim also enjoyed his time at WVC volleyball and basketball games, where he had a special seat by the door. All the amazing athletes giving him fist pumps was the highlight of his day.

The family would like to thank a few great medical staff members for the care Tim received recently. Alicia Kinsolving and office staff for all the years of service to him. Dr. Justin Thorpe at WGH ER for the swift care he received and his compassion. WGH ambulance and volunteer firemen are very much appreciated for their dedication in helping over the past few months. Tim had one very special nurse at IU Methodist, Cara Petrucci. She brightened his day every time she was his nurse, and she was his, and the family’s biggest advocate in the field.

Tim leaves behind his beloved wife, Jackie; daughter, Crystal Healy; grandson, William “Bubby” Healy; granddaughter, Clarissa “Sissy” Healy; bonus daughter, Chloe (Sabatier) Lephant from France; special brother-in-law, Charles Davis who helped care for him.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with Tim’s wishes, a private family burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his mother and father wearing a special Otters #66 jersey signed by all the current players, a player’s hat, and a baseball. He will also have an Otter beaded keychain that Clarissa made for him.

Mark Owen “Red” Lies, 63

Mark Owen “Red” Lies, 63, passed away on May 23, 2026. He was born on October 17, 1962. Throughout his life, he became known not only by his given name but also by the nickname “Red,” a name spoken with affection by family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Mark lived a life filled with loyalty, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the simple things that brought him joy. He had a love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time outside, and making memories with his family. He loved to cook, grill, or fry fish that he caught. Whether relaxing in nature or enjoying everyday moments, he found happiness in the world around him. He was devoted to his church, First Christian in Royalton, and to his church family, faithfully serving and volunteering his time in any way he could to give back and support others.

An avid fan of the Chicago Bears and his beloved “Cubbies,” Mark faithfully cheered on his favorite team through every season. His passion for sports was just one of the many things that brought him joy and connected him with family and friends.

Among the greatest joys in Mark’s life was his beloved dog, Marley, who was much more than a pet—Marley was a loyal companion and cherished member of his family. The bond they shared brought Mark comfort, happiness, and unconditional love.

Mark will be remembered for his generous heart, his sense of humor, and his ability to make people feel welcomed and valued. He touched many lives through his friendship and kindness. The memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Mark was married to Michelle, who survives. Together, they shared 18 years of companionship and many memories. Michelle was also his devoted caretaker.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Rose (Cashman) and Louis Peter Lies, and his brothers, Dominic Lies and Richard Lies.

He is survived by his daughter, Megan (Josh) Snelling of Mt. Carmel; his brothers, Matthew (Penny) Lies of Mt. Carmel and Steven (Tracie) Lies of Murphysboro; his nieces, Kacey (Kaleb Graef) Madison, Bree Lies, and Marissa (Izak) Baker; his nephews, BJ Haggard and Ethan (Mercedes) Lies; his great-nephews, Ty and Dax Madison. And a very special and best friend, Glen Peach of California, formerly of Mt. Carmel.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at the Banquet Room behind Rosati's on June 20th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor a man whose presence left a lasting mark on so many.

Carolyn Yvonne Potts, 87

Carolyn Yvonne Potts, 87, formerly of West Salem, IL, passed away June 10, 2026, at Oakview Nursing & Rehab in Mt. Carmel, IL. Born March 18, 1939, in Bennington, IL, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Pearl Lomas. Carolyn grew up in Edwards County, attending Blood School before moving to West Salem schools. A determined lifelong learner, she went to night classes to earn her GED at age 50. Throughout her life, Carolyn was a hard worker and a familiar face in her community, holding positions at the Olney shoe factory, Champion Laboratories, West Salem Manor, Casey’s, the IGA deli, Willum’s Restaurant, and the Senior Citizen’s Centers in both West Salem and Browns.

Carolyn was a devoted member of the First Christian Church in West Salem, joining in 1994. Her unwavering faith sustained her through many life hardships, including the profound loss of her oldest son, Dennis, at age 17. She loved reading her Bible, taking motorcycle trips across the country with her husband Bob, and preparing food for family gatherings. She was especially famous for her "Happy Birthday, Jesus" Christmas cakes and her signature pea salad.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Floyd Summerfield (d. 1985); her husband of 36 years, Robert Potts; her beloved son, Dennis Ray Clark; two sisters, Opal Dorman and Irene Dorman; a stepdaughter, Patty Potts; and a great-grandson, Keeton Mewes.

She leaves behind a legacy of deep kindness and care, survived by her "baby brother," Eldon Lomas; her children, Patti (Max) Michels of Albion, Beverly Hall of West Salem, and Gary Harrison of Roseburg, or her stepdaughters, Deborah Potts of Lawrenceville and Lori (Johnathan) Wilbourne of Bridgewater, IA; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her special first cousin, Ann.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held Friday, June 19, 2026, at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, IL. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with the funeral beginning at noon. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery, where she will be interred next to her son.

In accordance with Carolyn’s unique wishes, no photos will be displayed; instead, friends and family are invited to take one of her cherished, handwritten recipes from the display table.

Memorials may be made to the Edwards County Council on Aging, the West Salem First Christian Church, or Macedonia Cemetery.

Lee A. Paque’, 80

Lee A. Paque’, 80, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at home, with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 19, 1946, in Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of Alvin (Marge) Paque’ and Ruth (Barthels) Dahl. On March 2, 2023, Lee married his long-time love, Becky Stoltz, at their home in Lawrenceville. Becky passed away later that year and although they were married a short time, the two of them shared a lifetime of love and happy memories together.

Lee faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and concluded his military career with the rank of Army Specialist Fourth Class. He was employed by UPS for many years, serving as a Division Manager until his retirement.

Lee enjoyed an active life filled with hobbies and interests he loved. He was an avid golfer and was proud to have recorded several hole-in-ones over the years. Lee also had a lifelong love for cars, especially his Corvettes, and enjoyed the thrill of getting behind the wheel and taking them for a drive. When he was no longer able to spend as much time on the golf course, he rekindled his passion for playing pool. What began as a hobby grew into a competitive pursuit, as Lee joined a pool league, earned numerous trophies, advanced to the World Pool Qualifiers, and was honored with the league's Sportsmanship Award. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

Some of Lee's happiest times were spent at their lakefront cabin in Wisconsin that he and Becky lovingly remodeled together. They later moved to Florida, where Lee enjoyed countless rounds of golf and attending benefits at the country club that Becky often hosted. Lee will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Lee will be remembered by his children, Alan Stoltz and wife, Karla, Kim Keepes and husband, Shaun, Hollie Stuessel and husband, Ruben; grandchildren, Alicia Morgan, Kaelyn Bailey, Tanner Stoltz, Cortney (Chandler) Madden, Christian Stuessel, Cole Sardeson, Chase (Madelyn) Keepes, Brayden Stoltz, Emma Keepes, Shelby Sardeson, and Lily Keepes; great grandchildren, Freya Victoria Morgan, Kenney Drew Madden and baby boy Madden on the way; his twin sister, Susan Prawdzik; sister, Faye Bohman, both of Janesville, Wisconsin; nephew, Kent Prawdzik; nieces, Shelley (Dan) Thompson and Kristen (Paul) Long; three great nieces; cousins, Buck (Marcia) Borchardt and Butch Borchardt. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Becky; grandson, Austin Hering.

A private family Visitation and Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery where Lee will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Becky.

Wanda L. Hamilton, 87

Wanda L. Hamilton, 87, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born on June 15, 1938, in Friendsville, Illinois, the daughter of Earl Ray and Goldie Marie (Burton) Harms. She married Edward Eugene Hamilton who preceded her in death on May 10, 2020.

Wanda dedicated her life to making her house a home for her family. She kept her home in immaculate condition. Wanda loved cooking for everyone and tending to her beautiful flowers. She treasured her family and spending time with them. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Wanda leaves behind her son, Ed Hamilton; grandchildren, Kenneth Morrison, Matt Harper, Madison Harper, Mikel Harper and Skyler Edgin; four great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Harms; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins; her special dog, Riley.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Nancy Cochran; son, Steven Hamilton; brothers, Wendell Harms, Buford “Bunny” Harms; sisters, Clara Lynch, Patricia Brockmeier, Thelma Nanney and Barbara Morgan.

Pamela Ann Mason, 69

Pamela Ann Mason, 69, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mt. Carmel, Illinois with her loving family by her side.

She was born on January 31, 1957, in Princeton, Indiana. She was the daughter of James Edward and Carol (Hickrod) Mason.

Pamela graduated from Gibson Southern High School in 1975 and went on to work as a CNA. Family was the most important thing in Pamela’s life.

She is survived by her children, Gerald Eads and Lisa Eads, both of Mt. Carmel, IL; her parents, James and Carol of Oakland City, IN; her siblings, Tom (Georgiana) Mason of Oakland City, IN, Tammy Davis of Oakland City, IN, and Tim (Jan) Mason of Princeton, IN; her grandchildren, Sara (Tyler) Thomas, Sadie (Robert) Potter, and Emily Eads; two great-grandchildren, Madilyn Potter and Saylor Thomas; and two great-grandchildren on the way. She is also survived by several nephews, great nephews and great nieces.

Pamela was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Eads, and her brother-in-law, David Davis.

June Xanders, 90

June Xanders, 90, of Allendale, Illinois passed away on June 1, 2026, at Wabash General Hospital.

She was born on June 14, 1935, in Wabash County. She was the daughter of Emmett and Jennie (Leek) Couch. She married Fred L. Xanders on February 14, 1953, at Fort McClellan Army Base in Anniston, Alabama. They shared 72 wonderful years of marriage together.

June graduated from Allendale High School in 1952. She worked at Pacific Press in Mt Carmel. For many years, June and Fred owned and operated concession trailers that they worked at local auctions, fairs, and M.C.H.S. football games. FAT FREDDIES (their food trailer) was loved by all! They also catered for weddings, family reunions, class reunions and birthday parties. June and Fred volunteered at the Orio Chowder fundraiser for many years as well. They always enjoyed giving back to the community. 

June’s favorite pastimes were cooking, baking, canning, ironing, working with her flowers and taking care of her large garden. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children; Greg L. (Pattie) Xanders, Kevin L. Xanders, Misty K. (Paul) Kieffer and grandsons; Kyle (Taylor) Kieffer, and Eric Haines.  

June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred, and her sister, Eva Maye Annerino.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Adams Corner Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. 

A Celebration of Life for June will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the First Christian Church at 11:00 a.m.

Alberta “Bert" Andrews, 104

Alberta “Bert” passed from this life just 10 days before her 105th birthday! She was born on June 10, 1921, at her parents’ home in Mill Shoals, Illinois to Clarence Wilson Taylor and Nellie (Thackery) Taylor. She died Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Deaconess Hospital, in Evansville, Indiana. She was the last survivor of her family of 14 brothers and sisters.

Alberta lived a long life devoted to service. Her joy in life was her family, especially her sons, of whom she was extremely proud. She attended and graduated from Mill Shoals High School (2 years) as well as Fairfield High School. She worked at Walgreens as a waitress and short order cook and was a valued employee at several business establishments in Fairfield, Chicago and Trenton, New Jersey, valued for her leadership and work ethic. In 1947, she married Ted H Andrews.

Alberta was an excellent cook, especially known for her pie making. She always made pies for the annual Orio Chowder, and people attending the Chowder would specifically request pies made by Alberta. One year she made 36 pies for the Orio Chowder. Alberta was a great inspiration and will be missed. However, we know she is finally at home with Christ and having a joyful reunion with her husband, sons, parents, and many other friends and family.

Alberta is survived by sons, David (Judy) Andrews and Curtis Andrews; daughter-in-law, Kelley; grandchildren, Don (Misty), Jennifer, Austin, Amelia, Xan (Josh) and Ethan; great grandchildren, Megan (Logan), Allison (Jake), Olivia, Todd, Logan, Jacob and Kade; great- great- grandchild Lucas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Alberta is preceded in death by her husband, Ted (1917-1992), her twin, Albert (1921-1921), sons, Daniel (1948-2026) and Clarence (1950-1950); her parents, Clarence (1886-1962) and Nellie (1893-1975); as well as all her siblings: Everett (1912-1914), Loren (1915-1999), Nora (1917-2008), Maxine (1919-2020), Junior (1923-2006), Mary Helen (1925-1938), Robert (1927-1999) George Curtis (1929-2001) Billy Gene (1931-2023), Walter (1933-1935), Dorothy (1935-2009), and Donald (1938-2025).

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m., – 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Wabash Presbyterian Church.

Steven Daniel Haase, 21

Steven Daniel Haase, 21, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026.

He was born on September 22, 2004, in Guatemala, Central America, the son of David Lee and Jacqueline Sue (Deisher) Haase. Steven attended Saint Mary’s Catholic School and was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School Class of 2023.

Steven will be remembered as a loving son, brother, and friend whose kind heart and easygoing nature touched the lives of many. He found his greatest joy outdoors, especially while fishing and hunting. A dedicated member of the Mount Carmel FFA and Young Leaders, Steven took great pride in his hard work and accomplishments, including earning the prestigious Grain Production State Proficiency Award. He was especially proud to work alongside his family on Robert Haase Farms and was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Steven cherished traveling with his family and girlfriend, creating memories that will be treasured forever. He especially enjoyed deep-sea fishing and spending time on the water whenever he could. Steven loved his truck and enjoyed working on it and adding new upgrades.

Above all, Steven loved his family and friends. His warm spirit, strong work ethic, and genuine care for others will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Clayton I.D. Short, 24

Clayton I.D. Short, 24, of Fairfield, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 4, 2002, in Fairfield, Illinois, the son of Victor D. Short and Andrea R. Coale.

Clayton loved his family and friends and cherished the time he spent with them. He was soft-spoken with a kind and gentle heart, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His caring nature and selflessness left a lasting impression on those who knew him. Clayton took great pride in his comic book and knife collections and enjoyed spending time watching The Walking Dead, following WWE wrestling, and playing video games, especially Grand Theft Auto V. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Catalina Opeña Fuqua, 85, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away on March 28, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

She was born on November 25, 1940, in Ronda, Philippines. She was the daughter of Moises Sabello and Condrada Requilme (Gimena) Opeña. Catalina worked as a CNA until she retired. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel.

Catalina is survived by her sister-in-law, Maria Perla Opeña; nieces, Celeste Gibson, Rhoda Opeña, Margot Opeña, Rizza Opeña Hulfachor, and Lucky Tracy Opeña; nephews, Josephus Opeña and Bjorn Onin Moises Opeña; and great-nieces and nephews, Aiona, Axl, Avery, and Carlisle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Petronila Opeña.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Per the family’s wishes, Catalina has been cremated and will return to her family in the Philippines.

John William Cusick, 73

John William Cusick, 73, of Allendale, Illinois went to his heavenly home on Friday, May 22, 2026 at his home in Allendale, Illinois.

John was born January 6, 1953 in Mt Carmel, Illinois to George and Pearl (Winter) Cusick. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Allendale, IL. John began his career as a mechanic at John Deere Implement in Mt. Carmel, Illinois and later worked at Forge-Plating at Snap-On Tools for 30 years. He was also a proud member of the Allendale Fire Department, and was a dispatcher for Wabash County Ambulance Service when it was operated by volunteer EMTs. He enjoyed working on motors with his grandsons.

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, 11 months Linda (Mason) Cusick; his son Jeremy Cusick; his daughter Sarah (Travis Hering) Richards; six grandchildren, Stephen Cusick, Logan (Chelsy) Richards, Johnny (Olivia) Cusick, Kristen (Kenny Taylor) Richards, Jackson Cusick and Paisley Cusick; and one great grandchild, Kash. One of John’s greatest joys in life was becoming a great-grandpa to Kash. The bond they shared was incredibly special, and the love he had for that little boy was endless.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alice Louise Cusick; a brother, Robert Cusick; and a grand-daughter, Delaney Star Cusick.

Jack D. Fowler, 85

Jack D. Fowler of Mount Carmel went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2026. He was born in Eldorado on March 25, 1941. On September 1, 1965, Jack married Trudy (Gidcumb) Fowler, and together they shared 57 years of marriage before her passing. Jack was a graduate of Eldorado High School, Southern Illinois University and The University of Kentucky School of Law.

Jack devoted more than 60 years to the practice of law. He began his career with Texaco in Lexington from 1965–1968 before moving to Indianapolis to work for Nisenbaum & Brown from 1968–1973. In 1973, Jack moved to Mount Carmel in conjunction with work on the Keensburg Mine. For nearly 30 years, he worked within the natural resources sector alongside partners including John Rhine, Bill Cawley, and Stan Ernest. He later returned to corporate law, serving Mt. Carmel Stabilization as Director of Safety and Legal Counsel for nearly 23 years.

Beyond his legal career, Jack treasured time spent with his family, reading, sports and serving his church. His greatest passion was his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Alongside Trudy, Jack was a devoted member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, where their faith and service touched many lives.

Jack is survived by his sons, Matthew (Tricia) Fowler and Nathan (Lori) Fowler; eight grandchildren, Anna (Bryce) Sauer, Emily (Caleb) Parlee, Luke Fowler, Leah Fowler, Kate Fowler, Lydia Fowler, Adah Fowler, and Jonas Fowler; and two great-grandchildren, Elsie Sauer and Elizabeth Parlee. He is also survived by his siblings, Kim (Mona) Edwards, Susan Rhine, and Janice Fowler.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Trudy Fowler and his parents Orval and Clara Edwards.

Visitation and funeral services for Jack will be held at First Baptist Church of Mt. Carmel. Visitation will take place Friday, May 29, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 31, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at 5:00 p.m. at Wolf Creek Cemetery.

Dennis Allen Lustfeldt, 73

Dennis Allen Lustfeldt, 73, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2023, at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on February 28, 1953, in Caribou, Maine, the son of Bob and Dorothy (Mathewson) Lustfeldt. Dennis married Lynette Johnson on May 15, 1990, and together enjoyed thirty-six years of marriage.

Dennis retired from Duke Energy after thirty-five years of dedicated service as an electrician. He was a proud member of IBEW Local 1393. Dennis enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially loved fishing. He was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed following them throughout the years. Dennis will be remembered for his hard work, love of the outdoors, and the time he shared with family and friends.

Dennis will be remembered by his wife, Lynette Lustfeldt; sons, Austin (Amanda) Lustfeldt and Aaron Lustfeldt; stepdaughter, Stacy Hedge; stepson, Mike (Denia) Hedge; grandchildren, Ethan (Gracie) Lustfeldt, Emily (Collen) Barrett, Marvin (McKenna) Hedge, Bradley Hedge, and Natalee Hedge; one great grandson, Jackie Barrett; sister, Carol Lustfeldt; special cousin, Cheryl Miller.

Jackie R. “Jr.” Street, 51

Jackie R. “Jr.” Street, 51, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Aperion Care in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on May 28, 1974, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Bruce Wayne and Annie (Land) Street.

Jack worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver and enjoyed traveling the country and visiting new places along the way. He had a love for farming and cherished time spent outdoors. Jack was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed following the sport. He was also a food connoisseur who appreciated good food and enjoyed sharing meals with family and friends.

Jack will be remembered by his two sons, Jackson Street and Blake Street; brother, Chad Street; sister, Stephanie Odom; many loved aunts and uncles; and dear friends, the Cooley family, whom Jack considered family. Jack was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron “Blue” Mains, 74

Ron “Blue” Mains, 74, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away on May 17, 2026, surrounded by his family at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

He was born on November 2, 1951, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He was the son of Donald Ray and Patricia Lee (Buchanan) Mains. He married his beautiful wife Joni on June 7, 1975 at Zion Lutheran Church and she proceeded him in death.

Ron was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a 4th-generation co-owner of Mains Flowershop and Greenhouses from 1989 to 2009, which had been proudly open for 105 years. He was a proud member of the Union Boilermakers #374 for 52 years, and the Mt. Carmel Masonic Lodge #239 for 50 years. Ron was Past Master of the Lodge, Past Commander of the York Rite, Past Commander of Knights Templar, and a member of the Ainad Shrine of East St. Louis. Ron had been a member of the Mt. Carmel Civil Defense and a volunteer with the Mt. Carmel Fire Department. He was also a member of the BPOE #715.

Ron enjoyed playing chess and putting puzzles together. He loved being with his family and spoiling his grandson, Grant Thomas. Ron completely restored his original 1978 Trans Am in his spare time. Ron would do anything for anyone. He found joy in helping others without their knowledge. He was a blessing to anyone who was lucky enough to know him.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Marisa (Jacob) Ruffner of Mason, Illinois; mother, Patricia Lee Mains; brother, Don Mains of Mt. Carmel; grandson, Grant Thomas Ruffner, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Donald; his wife, Joni; daughter, Michelle; and sister, Sandy Patterson.

Ron’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.

Jerry Joe Corwin, 76

Jerry Joe Corwin, 76, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at home. He was born on March 26, 1950, in Princeton, Indiana, the son of George F. and Frances Glendale “Glennie” (Sperry) Corwin. He married Mary Ellen Stillwell on May 31, 1970, at the Friedens United Church of Christ and they have celebrated almost fifty-six years of loving marriage.

Jerry was a 1968 graduate of Mount Carmel High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University. He started the Graphic Arts and Communications program at Mount Carmel High School, where he dedicated thirty-three years to teaching and inspiring students. In addition to his teaching career, Jerry owned and operated Corwin Printing for many years before selling the business to his valued employees, Kyle and Connie Day, who continue the respected reputation and legacy he established. In his younger years, Jerry also worked at Canedy’s Market as a butcher.

In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed antique cars, street rods, and attending car shows. He also enjoyed fishing, spending relaxing time at the lake, and cheering on his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, especially when able to attend games in person. Jerry had an appreciation for various forms of art and craftsmanship, including sign painting, carpentry, and woodworking. Most of all, Jerry cherished time spent with his loving family. Jerry was baptized at Grace Memorial Baptist Church and was an active member of Friedens United Church of Christ. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Ellen; daughters, Julia Elizabeth Corwin, Emily Michelle Rummel and her husband, Mike, whom Jerry thought of as his own son; extended special family, Sherrie Knutson; sister, Billie (Kenneth) Terry; sister-in-law, Sarah Corwin; many nieces and nephews; his dog, Darcy Jo; and grand-pups, Rosie and Whiskey.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom Corwin; in-laws, James & Mary Stillwell.

Alan Dean Rooney, 70

Alan Dean Rooney, 70, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away May 14, 2026, at home with his wife, Gayla, by his side. Alan was born June 22, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Albert Lincoln and Gladys Francis (Reece) Rooney. He was the youngest of the Rooney children and lost his mother at the age of six. He was raised by his father and siblings until the passing of his father when Alan was 15 years old. After graduating from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Alan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served as a Staff Sergeant. While serving in the Marines, Alan met the late Toshiko Sugimoto, with whom he had two children, Sean (Chrissy) Rooney and the late Lisa Marie Rooney.

Alan traveled extensively during his time in the Marine Corps, living throughout the United States and overseas in the Philippines, Korea, and Japan. In Mount Carmel, Alan found his greatest joys and pleasure in life. He married Gayla (Hocking) Rooney on February 19, 2000, and together they shared 26 years of marriage. Alan’s greatest pride and joy were his six grandchildren: Kendall, Wyatt, Quinn, Julep, Charlie, and Benn.

Alan loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on cars in his younger years. He was an avid firearms enthusiast who appreciated both the sport and the mechanics behind them. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of firearms while working behind the gun counter at Big R and as a firearms safety instructor. Known for his analytical mind and curiosity, Alan always wanted to understand how things worked. He also enjoyed football and was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Alan also enjoyed performing on the stage of the Brubeck Arts Center and singing with the Wabash County Singers.

In October 2015, Alan underwent a heart transplant at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. True to the warrior he was, he battled through with strength and determination and was blessed with additional years to enjoy life with those he loved.

Alan is survived by his wife, Gayla Rooney; his son, Sean (Chrissy) Rooney; his stepsons, Kyle Peach (Jill Winter) and Ryan Peach; his six grandchildren; his brother, Robert Rooney; his father-in-law, Andy Hocking; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Marie Rooney; his mother, Gladys Rooney; his father, Albert Rooney; his brother, Albert Lincoln Rooney Jr.; his sisters, Patricia Friesner and Phyllis Phillips; his brother, Ronald Rooney; and his mother-in-law, Patsy Hocking.

John Alexander Lee Slunder, 27

John Alexander Lee Slunder, 27, of Albion, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on September 10, 1998, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Jeremy Leach and Andrea Coale.

Alex will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, and friend. He was a family man who loved those closest to him deeply. Alex enjoyed sports, singing, rapping, and writing music. He had a fun-loving personality and was known as a big jokester who enjoyed making others laugh. He also loved to cook and took joy in feeding others. Alex enjoyed watching movies and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
