John Alexander Lee Slunder, 27, of Albion, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on September 10, 1998, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Jeremy Leach and Andrea Coale.
Alex will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, and friend. He was a family man who loved those closest to him deeply. Alex enjoyed sports, singing, rapping, and writing music. He had a fun-loving personality and was known as a big jokester who enjoyed making others laugh. He also loved to cook and took joy in feeding others. Alex enjoyed watching movies and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Alex will be remembered by his son, Zeppelin Slunder; fiancé, Brooklyn Dill; foster children, EllieMae Dill, LaylaMae Dill, and Joshua Dill, Jr.; mother, Andrea (Jason Carter) Coale; father, Jeremy Leach; brothers, Clayton Short, William Berryman, and Jermel Leach; sister, Victoria Steele and husband, Jacob; maternal grandparents, Angela Coale and Kevin Ulm; paternal grandfather, Jerry Leach; paternal grandmother, Cheryl Dudley; aunt, Megan Moore and husband, William; uncles, Nathan Leach and Nathan Archer, Sr.; special aunt, Jill Hunt and husband, Zach; cousins, Nathan Archer, Jr. and wife, Emily, Tristan Archer, Myleigh Culiver, and Madeline Moore; nieces and nephews, Jacob “JJ” Steele, Jr., Lalani Leach, and many more loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Alex was preceded in death by his stepfather, Victor Short; great-grandparents, John R. Coale and Mary Madeline Coale, Warren and Nina Harvey; and uncle, David Culiver.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Bellmont, Illinois.
