Donald Lee Chauncey Price, 90

Donald Lee Chauncey Price, 90, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born on November 29, 1930 in Napa, Napa County California, the son of Oscar Wilson Price and Emma Madeline (Butler) Price.  He married Jean Winingear in Mount Carmel and she survives. 

In his youth, Don attended schools in California until he joined the United States Army in 1946 where he faithfully served his country for five years.  Don served during the Occupation of Japan, was a member of the 11th Airborne Division and the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment.  He ended his service in 1951 as a 2nd Echelon Mechanic.

Don had a fifty-three-year career serving many positions in the City of Mount Carmel and Wabash County municipalities.  He began as a Patrolman in 1955 for the Mount Carmel Police Department, serving for ten years and then was promoted to Chief of Police.  In 1975 Don took the position of City-County Detective before moving on to City Inspector in 1981 and then retiring in 2008.  Fifteen of those years, Don also served as a Wabash County Deputy Sheriff.

In his spare time, Don enjoyed being a part-time Instructor in the Illinois Community College district 329.  He was a certified SCUBA diver, an Amateur Baseball Umpire and a High School Football Official.  He liked to play golf, archery and bow-hunting, shooting and woodworking.  He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4276 and the American Legion, Wabash Post #423.  Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He was a Born-Again Christian and attended Community Church of God.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Don leaves behind his loving wife, Jean; children, Tina Kay (Bill) Winternheimer, Donald L. Price Jr., Tani Dru (Gary) Bemont, David D. Price; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Greathouse, Julie Dial, Bret Winternheimer, Brittany Winternheimer, Jerrica (John) Riyazi, Olivia Bemont; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Devon Hardy, River Greathouse and Isabella Price.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Jacob Price.

A private family Visitation and Funeral will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

Randall L. “Weed” Garwood, 61

Randall L. “Weed” Garwood, 61, of Grayville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana with his loving family by his side.  He was born on October 10, 1959 in Geneseo, Illinois, the son of Sherman and Rita (Pearson) Garwood.  Randy graduated from Crossville High School Class of 1977.

Randy was a loving father to his daughter, Erin and treasured the bond with his grandson.  He loved being outdoors, where he spent time hunting and fishing. At an early age, Randy lovingly earned the nickname “Weed” which stuck with him throughout his life.  He was very involved in the Grayville Moose and loved participating in their many activities. Randy was a hard worker where he spent his lifetime as a logger.  He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Randy will be remembered by his daughter, Erin (Chris) Kieffer of Mount Carmel; grandson, Aiden Garwood; brothers, Steve (Rayna) Garwood of Mount Carmel, and Darrell Garwood of Crossville, IL; girlfriend, Shawna Irvine; two nieces, Jamie Compton and Katelin Neely; bonus children, Shad Collins, Shawn (Cindy) Collins, and Shanan (Jamin) Oldendorf; bonus grandchildren, Haley Collins, Noah Collins, Ethan Collins and Taylor Oldendorf.  Randy was preceded in death by his parents.

Bonnie B. Talley, 85

Bonnie B. Talley, 85, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Wabash General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 12, 1935 in Wabash County, Illinois, the daughter of George Robert and Velma Ruth (Kaiser) Helton. Bonnie was a 1952 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. She married Norman Talley on October 19, 1952 and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2017, after sixty-four years of marriage.

Bonnie worked hard her whole life. She had worked as a retail clerk at the A & P Grocery Store and a local fabric shop which she also owned. She then took a position at Security Bank and Trust where she retired as the head teller. She was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed making dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. Bonnie often sewed beautiful gowns for proms, special occasions and most especially, her daughters were extremely proud to wear the gowns their mother made for their wedding day. Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother and granny. Some of her favorite memories came from whole family vacations they took to the Smokey Mountains, camping trips and family get-togethers at home. Bonnie’s granddaughters treasure the special recipes she shared with them and they describe her as the best at making fried chicken, strawberry pie, waffles, cheese popcorn, noodles and cherry delight. She was easy going, sharp minded, an avid reader and had a great sense of humor. She was known for passing out two-dollar bills on special occasions and she enjoyed teaching her great-grandchildren how to count change. Bonnie had the best smile, the kindest heart, never met a stranger and cared deeply for her whole family. She was a member of Parkview Christian Church and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Bonnie leaves behind her daughter; Debbie Winkler and husband Steve of Port Wentworth, Georgia; son, Michael Talley of Tarpon Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Meadows, Derek (Tia) Morgan, Sean (Diana) Morgan, Jason (Carla) Winkler, Jenna (James) Gerbasi, Jay (Abby) Winkler; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Madi and Maddox Meadows, Clay and Kelsey Morgan, Maverick and Eliza Morgan, Genesis Malott, Bethany Winkler, Kaelin (Mason) Durst, Lilly, Turner and Lyric Wilson, Aubrey, Stephen and Braylee Gerbasi; great-great-grandson, Warren Cockran; son-in-law, Jeff Morgan; siblings, Judy Whitaker, Mary Ruth (Charlie) Kieffer, Jack (Mary) Helton; many loved nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Karen Post and special friend, Barbara Locke.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Beverly Kay Morgan;

granddaughter, Jaymie (Winkler) Wilson; brother, Robert George Helton; sisters, Eleanor Nation and Peggy Peterson; sister-in-law, Pat Bosecker.

Gerald Lee Rich, 81

Gerald Lee Rich, 81, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at his residence.

He was born October 12, 1939, the son of Jacob Earl and Letha M. (Davis) Rich in Monticello, Illinois.  On October 30, 1960, Jerry married Janice Woods at Lick Prairie Christian Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  They were married 60 years.

Jerry was a member of Lick Prairie Christian Church.  He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and camping with his family.  Jerry owned and operated the Mt. Carmel Bowling Alley for 30 years.  In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing.

Left to cherish Jerry’s memory are his wife of 60 years, Janice; children Tammy (Don) Quillen of West Salem, Illinois, Shari (Dirk) Olson of McKinney, Texas and Donnie Rich of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; grandchildren Michael Quillen, Barkley Quillen, Brian Quillen, Jonathan Olson, Devan Rich and Cole Rich; great-grandchildren Morgan, Jacob, Dakota and Kristina Quillen; sister Phyllis (Clyde) Ulm; sister-in-laws Judy (Bob) Reed and Janet Rich; brother-in-law Neal (Pansy) Woods; and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Jo Rich and a brother Robert Rich.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a graveside service at Lick Prairie Cemetery on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

Robert (Bob) Livingston, 75

Robert (Bob) Livingston, 75, died on January 8, 2021 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital following a brief battle with COVID-19. He was born on June 5, 1945 in Cisne, Illinois and was adopted by his loving parents John Spurgeon and Helen Margaret (Haskin) Livingston. Bob graduated from Flora High School in the class of 1963. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1967 – 1971 where he traveled extensively in the Caribbean, South America, and Europe.

After returning from the Navy, Bob attended SIU at Carbondale and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history. For one summer, he studied abroad in Europe. He became a journalist for newspapers in Flora, Illinois and Sidney, Nebraska. In 1982, Bob came to Mt. Carmel to be the sports editor and general reporter for the Daily Republican Register. For 29 ½ years, he covered the sports for the MCHS Aces, WVC Warriors, and other community sports.

On June 25, 1988, he married Ruth Veihman. Together they attended many games for the MCHS Aces, WVC Warriors, SIU Salukis, Mizzou Tigers, and St. Louis Cardinals. He also adored the Green Bay Packers. Besides sports, Bob liked history, photography, and was an avid reader. He loved everything chocolate.

Bob was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was also very active at Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Elks, SIU Alumni Association, and served on the Christmas Parade Committee for more than 20 years.

He dearly loved his family and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 32 years, Ruth; sister Mary (John Spitzner) Hutchens of Flora, Illinois; sister-in-law Marilyn (Jim) Cox of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; brother-in-law Paul (Goldie) Veihman of Tarpon Springs, Florida; nephew Pat (Doreen) Spitzner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nieces Lisa (Eric) Stanley of Clay City, Illinois; Cindy (Mike) Tatman of Flora, Illinois; Julie (Dwight) Stricklin of Lincoln, Illinois; Carrie (Ryan) Parmenter of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; and Sallie (Charlie) Dolan of Catlin, Illinois; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law John “Bill” Hutchens; and mother and father in-law Raymond A. and Evah O. Veihman

There will be a private family funeral Saturday, January 16, 2021. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

2021 Golf Cart/UTV Stickers Now Available

Permits for golf carts and UTV’s to operate legally on Mt. Carmel streets are now available at the police department. MCPD Chief Ryan Turner said not all golf carts and UTV’s need to be inspected this year… 

The cost of a sticker for a new golf cart or UTV is $75 while it’s $50 for a one that it being renewed. And, Turner said the expiration date on the stickers is one year from the time it was purchased. 

Free Sunscreen This Summer At Mt. Carmel City Pool

Even though it’s the middle of winter, city officials are looking ahead to summer and the upcoming season at the Mt. Carmel City Pool. Mayor Joe Judge said visitors to the pool this year will see something new… 

And no, unlike Holiday World….there will not be free soft drinks at the city pool to go along with the free sunscreen. 

James “Jim” Alexander Mastaw, 70

James “Jim” Alexander Mastaw, 70, of Fairfield, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.  Jim was born August 21, 1950 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to the late Alex and Opal Mastaw.

Jim was a welder for CSX railroad until his retirement.  Jim enjoyed his time that he ran his own pyrotechnics business. He was a member of the VFW and the Eagles in Mt. Carmel, IL, and was also a member of the Chippewa Nation, Sault Ste Marie Tribe.  Jim enjoyed NASCAR, karaoke, fishing, camping, feeding the ducks at Beall Woods and watching for deer while back road cruising with his wife.  Christmas was his favorite time of the year. Jim enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, especially singing to his friends at Tower Heights.  He loved his children and grandchildren deeply. Jim had many friends and will be missed by many.

Jim is survived by his wife, Tina Mastaw; his daughters, Ginger (Matt) Mastaw, Suzanne (Tom) Mastaw, and Deb (Richard) Denkema; step-children, Brian (Stephani) Carl and Shaun Carl; eleven grandchildren, Danielle, Hunter, Megan, Felecia, Emily, Phillip, Melissa, Amber, Caleb, Xane, and Jocelyn; two step-grandchildren, Eli Carl and Ty Carl; brothers, George (Cindy) Wagner, and Jerry (Barb) Sienko; sister-in-law, Kate Mastaw; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings:  Sharon (Norman) Jones, William Mastaw, and Christina Galla.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Jim’s life.

Janie Lou Hughes, 85

Janie Lou Hughes, 85, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at home.  She was born on December 25, 1935 in Spurgeon, Indiana, the daughter of Clyde and Lou Ellen (Thompson) Fowler.  She married Reverend Harold Hughes on August 26, 1956 and together they have enjoyed sixty-four years of marriage centered on their faith, love and family.

Janie was a graduate of Oakland City University and enjoyed her career as an elementary school teacher at South School in Mount Carmel until her retirement in 1992.  She loved her role as a teacher and the fulfillment she experienced being a part of the young children’s lives.  Even as her students moved on to higher education, she enjoyed keeping in touch with them from time to time.  Janie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was very helpful to her husband in his spiritual ministry and the two of them were inseparable.  Janie made daily journal entries, kept photos of her family and really enjoyed being the family historian.   She had great love and concern for her whole family and enjoyed visiting with all of them.  In her free-time, Janie enjoyed a good book and also crocheted many blankets and rugs as gifts for family and friends. Janie lived her life with a very strong faith.  Her favorite hymn was “His Eye Is On The Sparrow”.  She was a member of the First General Baptist Church where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Society.  Janie was a treasured friend to many and she will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. 

Janie leaves behind her beloved husband, Harold; son, Lloyd Hughes and wife, Susan of Mt. Carmel; daughter, Lou Ann Scott and husband, Stephen of Mt. Carmel; six grandchildren, Samantha (Jon) Reeder, Wesley (Katie) Scott, Megan Hughes, C.J. Simpson, Jessica Simpson, Shea (Tristan) Lewis; nine great-grandchildren plus baby Scott due to arrive in May; brothers, Charley (Ruth Ann) Fowler of Silvis, IL, Jack (Linda) Fowler of Lynnville, IN; several nieces and nephews.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Vicki Lynn Hughes; sister, Margie Fowler. 

The family will gather for a private Visitation in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home followed by a private Graveside Service at Powell Cemetery in White County, IL, with Pastor Gary Underwood officiating.

Roland Waldo Bingham, 91

Roland Waldo Bingham, 91, of Mount Carmel, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Lodge of the Wabash in Vincennes, Indiana.  He was born on June 6, 1929 in Eagle City, Oklahoma, the son of Roy and Myra (Sparks) Bingham.  Roland married Mary May Stanley and she preceded him in death.  Roland faithfully served his Country in the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War.

Roland loved his family above all and always looked forward to time he spent with them.  Among Roland’s hobbies, he enjoyed woodworking and playing musical instruments.  In his free time, he also loved a good John Wayne movie.  He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Roland will be remembered by his son, Robert Bingham of Mount Carmel; daughters, Juanita Dill of Mount Carmel and Clara Barton of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Robert Bingham III, Roland Bingham, Robert Bingham II, Nina Wall, Virgil Clark, Barbara Walker, David Walker and John Lashbrook; ten great grandchildren.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Bingham; sisters, Wilma Miner, LaFawn Hitchcock and Clara Jo Nelson; and brother, Bill Bingham.

Larry T. Reed, 83

Larry T. Reed, 83, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel.  He was born on November 1, 1937 in Wabash County, the son of Ora and Vera (Dugan) Reed.  Larry married Barbara Todd and together they enjoyed fifty-seven years of marriage before her passing on April 19, 2016.

Larry faithfully served his Country in the United States Navy.  He loved working on computers and also enjoyed reading. Larry earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and worked at Potter and Brumfield for over twenty years.  He also taught at Ivy Tech and WVC College.  Larry was fond of any movie or book about science fiction and loved watching Star Trek.  When Larry and Barbara’s were raising their children, some of their fondest memories included taking camping trips together as a family.  Larry loved his family and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Larry will be remembered by his son, Kevin Reed of Scottsburg, IN; daughter, Michelle Johnson of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Kayleigh Delap, Kevin Reed, Jr. and Zoey Johnson; greatgrandchildren, Alexia Reed, Makenya Drake and Landyn Reed.

Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Reed; son, Kenneth E. Reed; and his parents.

A Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2020, at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Mark Richison officiating.  Larry will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Barbara Reed.

Deanna M. Hipsher, 83

Deanna M. Hipsher, 83, of St. Francisville, Illinois went home to be with the Lord on her birthday, Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville IN.

Deanna was born December 31, 1937 in Wabash County Illinois, the daughter of William Penn and Clarice (Johnson) Beesley. She married Roy T. Hipsher on June 10, 1956 at the Wabash Presbyterian Church in Orio IL. They enjoyed 64 years serving the Lord and raising two sons to do the same.

Deanna is survived by her husband Roy; son Philip G. and wife Tina of Mt. Carmel; four grandchildren, Alix (Mark) Crummley, Ian Hipsher, Justin (Amanda) Hipsher, Rachel (Chuc) Tran; six great grandchildren, Amelia, Evelyn, Vivian Crummley and Noah, Abigail and Avianna Hipsher; brother, Gail (Joann) Beesley of Mt. Carmel.

She was devoted to her church, very involved in all activities. Anyone that knew her knew she lived her faith, always willing to share with others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and son Stuart Hipsher.

There will be a Private Family Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday January 5, 2021 at Wabash Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Orio Cemetery.

COVID-19 precautions will be in place including use of hand sanitizer, wearing of face covering and social distancing.

Terry Peach, 74

Terry Peach, 74, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 2, 1946 in Knox County, Indiana, the son of Norman and Virginia (Schwartz) Peach. Terry married Connie Bertram on September 25, 1964 and together they enjoyed fifty-six years of marriage centered on their family.

Terry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was the happiest when he was with his family. Terry’s grandchildren held a special place in his heart and he enjoyed following them in their sporting events. He always looked forward to family trips to Panama City Beach, and trips out west. Terry and Connie also loved visiting the Smokey Mountains, where they recently visited to celebrate their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary. Terry was graduate of Mount Carmel High School class of 1964 where he played football. He loved being outdoors enjoying nature and also enjoyed fishing with family. Terry worked at Snap On Tools for forty years where he made many friendships. Terry will be missed by all who knew him

Terry will be remembered by his loving wife, Connie Peach of Mount Carmel; son, Terry “Scott’ Peach and wife Lesley of Greenville, IN; daughter, Christina Page and husband Andy of Princeton, Indiana; grandchildren, Jacob (Charity Miskell) Page, Colton (Kaitlynn Lloyd) Page, Evan Peach and Ella peach; great grandson on they way, Jaxon Lee Page arriving in May; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Steven Peach.

Oril “Chad” Dent, 73, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born on August 16, 1947, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the son of Oril W. and Mary (Brock) Dent.  Chad married Sheila Harms on May 18, 1974 and together they enjoyed forty-six years of marriage.

Chad was a loving husband, father and grandfather who treasured time with his family.  He faithfully served his Country in the United States Air Force.  Chad loved attending games at the “Snakepit” and cheering on the MCHS football team.  He also enjoyed following the Pike Central Chargers football team where his grandson, Jagar played.  Chad was a hard worker and loved his job with Bates Brothers Farms as a truck driver.  He was a member of Pentecostal Faith Assembly.  Chad was always the life of any party, laughing and loved to have a good time with his family and friends.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Chad will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sheila Dent; two sons, Dustin (Shannon Sander) Dent of Jasper, IN and Glen Eliptico of Denver, CO; two daughters, Mysti (David) Marsh of Bicknell, IN and Holly (Jason) Smith of Petersburg, IN; ten grandchildren, Dakota Dent, Lexee Dent, Jagar Dent, Austin Skelton, Jena Pauw, John Pauw IV, Denna Pauw, Chelsie Lester, Caleb Lester and Connor Lester; two brothers, Lawrence Dent and Greg Dent; two sisters, Loretta (Henry) Miley and Bonita (Randy) Smith; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Chad was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Diane Dent.

A private family Visitation and Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2020 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Full Military Honors.  Following the service, in keeping with Chad’s wishes, cremation will take place.

Elaine Kay Bender, 66

Elaine Kay Bender, 66, of Boonville, Indiana, (formerly of Mt. Carmel) passed away Friday, December 25, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, following a one-month battle with Covid-19.

Kay was born June 14, 1954, the daughter of Gilbert Blaine and Elizabeth Louise (Reisinger) Painter in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School. Kay married Michael D. Bender on September 1, 1973 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

She dedicated her life to helping others. In her second act, Kay returned to college and obtained a registered nursing degree. She loved taking care of patients, especially those with mental health issues. Her kindness and patience were without limits. She also took care of those around her and will be missed immensely by those whose lives she touched. Kay was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

Kay is survived by her spouse Michael; four children, Jason Bender, Jessica Daniels, Julie Bender and Joshua Bender; granddaughter, Madison Daniels; and siblings Ann Painter and Doug Painter.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Darrell Wayne Deisher, 54

Darrell Wayne Deisher, 54, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2020, at Oakview Heights Rehabilitation Center surrounded by the love of his family.

 He was born December 26, 1966, the son of Jack Deisher and Joan (Trusty) Shackelford.  He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School.

 Darrell was an oil field worker all his life.  He worked for Beard Drilling Company for many years and then Jackson Well Service.  Darrell enjoyed fishing and loved spending time by the river with friends.

 Left to cherish Darrell’s memory are his mother Joan (Trusty) Shackelford; siblings Mike and Georgetta Deisher of Grayville, Illinois, Jack and Marcie Deisher of Indiana, and Steven and Sailin Deisher of Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

 Darrell was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Tammy Dudley.

There will be a graveside service Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Highland Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.

Jimmy G. Warmoth, 90

Jimmy G. Warmoth, 90, formerly of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, at Hopedale Cottage in Ozark, Missouri, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born June 25, 1930, the son of Wallace “Cy” and Lucille (Crouch) Warmoth in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. March 3, 1953, Jim married Alice McWilliams at the First Christian Church in Mt. Carmel.

Jim was a member of First Christian Church. He was a former minor league baseball pitcher for the Braves organization, worked in the meat department at A&P where he met Alice and a supervisor of quality control for Snap-On Tools Corporation until his retirement.

Left to cherish Jim’s memory is his daughter, Dianna Stennett, of Rogersville, Missouri, along with his two grandsons, Logan and Cole Stennett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Vickie Lee Warmoth; sisters, Caroline Smith and Helen Moyer, and brother, Wallace “Wally” Warmoth .

Johann Shearer, 85

Johann Shearer, 85, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Oakview Nursing Home surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born March 1, 1935 in Breckenridge, Michigan, the daughter of Erna and Beulah Irene (Schonert) Honeycutt.  She married Donald K. Shearer on October 3, 1952 and together they enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage until his passing on January 26, 2014. 

Johann was a member of the Mount Carmel High School graduating class of 1952.   Early in her working years, she was employed as a telephone operator and as a waitress.  She worked in the clothing factories, both in Mount Carmel and Albion, before her retirement in 1980.  Johann was an avid NASCAR fan and Kasey Kahne was her favorite driver.   Johann enjoyed traveling, where she visited forty-seven states either by car or motorcycle. Johann was a member of Asbury Chapel for sixty years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them.  Johann will be dearly missed. 

Johann will be remembered by her daughter, Perfidia Woods and husband, Kenny of Mount Carmel; sons, Archey Shearer and wife Theresia of Plainfield, IN, Nick Shearer and wife Carol of Winder, GA and Rickey Shearer and wife Teresa of Carthage, TN; ten grandchildren, Zach (Ashlei) Woods, Josh (Melissa) Woods, Ashley (Josh) Dixon, Lauren (Allen) Dixon, Emily (Brandon) Sciara, Grace, Havah and Alivia Shearer, Hannah (Katelyn) Shearer, Paige (Stephen) Clay; great- grandchildren, Maddox, Payton and Avery Woods, Finley, Jaxx, Bo, Levi, Logan, Ashlynn, Morgan Kate, Sadie, Lacy and Jack Dixon, baby Clay arriving in June of 2021; sister, Sarah Small; brothers, Erna (Brenda) Honeycutt, Terry (Tina) Honeycutt;  many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Johann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Shearer; great-granddaughter, Callie Paige Woods; sister, Janet Ankenbrand; brother-in-law, Gaylord Small.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Vaughn Courter officiating.  Johann will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Don.

Lois B. Hale, 95

Lois B. Hale, 95, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born September 12, 1925, the daughter of Norman R. and Ada (Wilson) Pollard in Johnson, Indiana.

Lois was a member of the Free Methodist Church.  She loved attending church and her church family.  Lois was a lunch aide at South School for over 20 years.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening---and never missed a yard sale.  Lois ran a fruit stand on Third Street in Mt. Carmel called Hale’s Market.  She was an avid Cardinal fan.  But Lois’ greatest love and enjoyment was her family.

Left to cherish Lois’ memory are her children, Dick (Darlene) Hale of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Denny (Sharon) Hale of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Bryan (Leslie) Hale of Robinson, Illinois, Danny (Susan) Hale of Allendale, Illinois, Linda D. Pittman of Oldsmar, Florida, and Deborah (Clayton) Vaughn of Lucedale, Mississippi; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandchildren; and siblings, Charles, Ralph, Jim, Paul, Catherine and Margaret.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends, Monday, December 28, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Maumee Cemetery, Johnson, Indiana.

Roy Moore, 62

Roy Moore, 62, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020.  He was born on August 28, 1958 in Mount Carmel, the son of James M. and Minnie Mae (Ligon) Moore.  He married Melinda Wilkinson on May 17, 2003 and together they enjoyed sixteen years of marriage until her passing on October 29, 2019.

Roy worked in maintenance and construction for Rod and Debbie Rodriguez for many years.  He also had experience in the oilfield industry.  Roy was a hard worker in whatever he was doing.  He enjoyed going fishing and sitting around a campfire with his friends and family.  He was a happy guy who would even join in on karaoke when he had the opportunity.  Roy was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He grieved deeply over the loss of his wife.   Spending time with his children and grandchildren brought him great joy.  Roy came to know a deep faith in God.  He was a member of Heartland Worship Center.  He will be dearly missed by his friends and family. 

Roy will be remembered by his sons, Damon (Kristina) Sloss, Dustin (Robin) Moore, Derek (Alexis) Wilkinson, Patrick (Dee) Iglehart, James Iglehart; daughters, Lindsay Moore, Amber Nikki Moore, Alissa Wheeler, Melanie Moore; step-daughter, Tasia Knowles; twenty-four grandchildren; brother, Albert (Melissa) Moore, Kathy (Ron) Pulliam, Betty (Don) Jackson; several nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mindy Moore; sister, Diane Cox; brother, Billy Ray Moore.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Heartland Worship Center from 1-3pm Saturday, January 16th, 2021. Please wear masks and practice social distancing..
