Sandra Annette (Foshee) Walker, 88, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away on August 28, 2026, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.
She was born on September 26, 1937, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She was the daughter of James Edward and Grace (Hoffner) Foshee. Sandra married Roy H. Walker on May 20, 1969, in Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Sandra graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1955. In the 1950s and 1960s, she worked for Potter & Brumfield in Princeton, IN and Pacific Press & Shear in Mt. Carmel, IL. From the 1970s to the 2000s, she worked for Southeast Bank, which became First Union, then Wachovia, then Wells Fargo as a switchboard operator in Dunedin, FL.
Sandy attended First Christian Church in Mt. Carmel, IL, and was a member of Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi. She loved to travel, taking autumn trips to Illinois, North Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin and Michigan to see family and enjoy fall colors. She attended her 50th class reunion in 2005 in Mt. Carmel, IL. One of her favorite trips was when she and Roy traveled to Hawaii.
Sandy and Roy enjoyed hosting family and friends in their historic home in Ozona, FL. Sandy loved walking the beach, listening to the waves, and collecting shells. After moving back to Mt. Carmel in 2017, she relished sitting on her front stoop at Cherry Oaks with many of her neighbors, laughing and sharing stories and Sandy so appreciated being part of the First Christian Church Senior Group that would meet each Wednesday for fellowship and excursions to have lunch in and around the area.
Sandra is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Marx Foshee; her niece, Lynn (Tim) Foshee Reed; her nephews, David (Marsha) Foshee and Jeff Foshee; her great-nieces, Kate (Travis) Jackman Fischer, Hana (Cody) Reed Voight, Samantha Foshee, and Lillian Foshee; her great-nephews, Rob Jackman, Michael (Carrie) Reed, David Reed, Aaron Foshee, John Foshee, and Christian (Draven) Foshee; her daughter-in-law, Joy Walker; grandchildren, Heather (John) Walker Edwards, Matthew Walker, and Brian (Satie)Walker; 5 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-nieces and -nephews. Also left to cherish Sandy’s memory are her many, many friends, especially Michelle Valentine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; infant son, Douglas Lee Speedy; brother, Robert E. Foshee; sister-in-law, Roxie Hunter Foshee, brother, Danny Michael Foshee; step-sons, John Walker and R.H. Walker; and niece, Becky Foshee Jackman.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.
Attendees are welcome to wear purple or lavender (Sandy’s favorite colors) or even Hawaiian-print clothing to celebrate her long life filled with love and laughter.
Sandy will be buried alongside her husband, Roy, at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery, in Clearwater, Florida at a later date.
