Norman Orville Martin, 78, of Grayville, Illinois passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at his home. He was born on Monday, April 7, 1947, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Ralph William and Eva Helen (Schenk) Martin. On February 12, 1971, he married Esther Gail Becker in Evansville, Indiana and together they have shared over 54 years of marriage.
Norman was a follower of Jesus and always shared with others about God's goodness. His faith was intertwined with his life's work a Southern Gospel music promoter. Over the years he arranged for countless Southern Gospel events throughout the area. Norman worshipped the Lord alongside his wife at Springerton Community Church in Springerton, IL. He was a member of the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and enjoyed spending time with his horses, Australian Shepherds and Roller Pigeons. Norman loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Alongside his wife Esther, Norman is survived by his children, Kelli (Shaun) Rush of Springerton, IL, Kyle (Jamie) Martin of Poseyville, IN; grandchildren, Lena (Doug) Lampert of Evansville, IN, Kelby Rush of Fairfield, IL, Khloe Rush of Springerton, IL, Liza Martin of Booneville, IN, Ayden Martin of Fairfield, IL, Isaac (Samona) Martin of Princeton, IN, Grady Rush of Springerton, IL and Lana Turpin of Poseyville, IN; great-grandchildren, Layla, Bryson and Avery and a dear friend Bob Swatsley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Martin and Eva Martin-Smith, a son William Norman Martin, a sister Linda Joyce Martin and special friend Terry Legg.
A service celebrating Norman's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at St. Paul's Methodist Church, 5331 St. Philip Road, Evansville, Indiana, with Pastor Don Mobley officiating, Inurnment will follow immediately at St. Paul's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Norman's memory may be made to his family to assist with final expenses and will be accepted by Roberts and Cook Funeral Service who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
