Dorcas H. Boyd, 86, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 21, 1939, in Geneva, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Frances (Nash) Burr. Dorcas married Joseph S. Boyd on November 24, 1961, in Allendale and together they enjoyed forty-four years of marriage until his passing on November 9, 2006.
Dorcas deeply loved her family and cherished every moment she spent with them. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she found great joy in watching them grow. In her free time, Dorcas enjoyed crocheting and quilting, lovingly sharing the gifts she created with her family. She also treasured quiet moments spent reading a good book. A faithful member of Wabash Presbyterian Church, Dorcas served devotedly as the church janitor, taking pride in caring for her church family. She was also involved in the church choir. Dorcas will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Dorcas will be remembered by her two sons, Andrew Boyd, and Joe Boyd and wife, Jennifer; three daughters, Mary Martin, Becky Boyd and Lisa Boyd; five grandchildren, John (Brittany) Martin, Jeff (Erica) Martin, Joe (Samantha) Martin, Hailey Boyd, and Abbigail Boyd; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Downs, and Margaret McClain; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dorcas was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; infant son, William Joseph Boyd; son-in-law, Paul Martin; and sister, Carol Benson.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2026, at Wabash Presbyterian Church.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2026, Wabash Presbyterian Church with Pastor Kevin McGinnis officiating. Burial will follow at Wabash Presbyterian Cemetery.
