Durward Clifton Bolding, 93, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Grayville, Illinois. He was born on June 18, 1932 in Mangum, Oklahoma, the son of Leonard Dison and Lela Mae (Presley) Bolding. Durward married Shari Kay Pence on September 1, 2000 and together they enjoyed twenty-four years of marriage.
Durward will be lovingly remembered by his family, whom he loved dearly. He graduated from Texas Tech University Class of 1955, where he played college basketball all four years. Durward broke records that still stand to this day. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree and enjoyed a long and successful career as a financial services broker. Durward had a passion for golf and formed many lasting friendships through the Arlington Senior Men's Golf League. He was also actively involved in both Rotary and Kiwanis, dedicating his time to community service. In his free time, Durward enjoyed being outdoors; especially bird hunting and bass fishing. A true sports enthusiast, he loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. Durward had a gift for connecting with people and cherished sharing stories with others. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Durward will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Shari Kay Bolding of Mount Carmel; children, Stacy M. Bolding of Houston, Texas, Christy M. (Daniel) Rousch of Hurst, TX, Aaron M. (Kelly) Pence of Ossian, Indiana and Adam M. (Shelby) Pence of Avon, Indiana; nine grandchildren, David, Aaron, and Elliott Rousch, Brycen Cone, Brayden, Calista, Charleigh, Hayden and Eli Pence.
Durward was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kent Bolding and Ron Bolding.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2025 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2025 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Williamson officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Durward’s memory to WC Cafeteria & Senior Center. Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
