Kathryn James, 77

Kathryn James, 77, of Princeton, Indiana, formerly of Mt. Carmel, Illinois went to meet her Lord and savior Jesus Christ as she passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, with her loving family right by her side.

She was born on September 6, 1947, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois to William Darrel Kuehling and Alice Marcella (Kling) Kuehling. She married Vernon “Pete” James on October 30, 1970, at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

Kathryn was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She got her GED and then applied for her high school certificate from the state of Illinois, making her an official 1965 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. She loved her kids and critters with all her heart. Her fondest memories were trips to Gulf Shores in 2012 and a trip to North Carolina in 1981 with her family.

Surviving are her husband, Vernon “Pete” James, daughters, Kimberly (Mark) Marvel of Princeton, Indiana and Marcella Hutchings of Princeton, Indiana, grandchildren, Zackary Peter Marvel (Dylan Dick), Kathryn Eliza Marvel, Kathryn’s namesake (Joseph Hanna), James Pryce Hutchings, Alyssa Claire Hutchings (Mario Palacios), Timothy James Marvel and Honorary grandchildren, Ethan Bury, Jacob & Savannah Marvel and children, Alison & Christian Robicheaux and children, Kenzi & Tucker Cooper, Olivia Marvel. Special people in her life, David & Kelley Marvel, Sandy & Todd Bury, Karla & Tim Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 25, 2025, from 4-8:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, with visitation from 12:00 until time of service.

Burial will follow the service Highland Memorial Cemetery.
