Timothy John Dougherty, 57, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023, at his residence.
He was born July 22, 1965, the son of Elbert Elsworth and Carolyn Joyce (Trimble) Dougherty in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Tim graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in the class of 1983. He received an associate degree from Wabash Valley College and furthered his studies in dental technology at USI. On September 3, 1994, Tim married Sarah Aderton in Hardin, Illinois. They were married for 22 years and are the parents of Claudia Beth and Owen Timothy.
Tim was raised catholic, attending St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Catholic School through 8th grade. As a family, he attended Parkview Christian Church. Tim was the owner and operator of TJD Dental Lab serving several local dentists by fabricating bridges and crowns. Prior to starting his own lab, he worked as a dental tech for Bill Ballard.
He was a dedicated and proud father to Claudia and Owen. Tim loved coaching Owen’s YIA and little league teams, Sunday grilling, and boating. Tim will be remembered for his sense of humor and goofy nature. He enjoyed laughing with friends and family. He appreciated the time spent with his extended family at holiday gatherings. Tim was a past exalted ruler of the Elks #715 Lodge. He was a Golden Aces, University of Illinois, and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Left to cherish Tim’s memory are his children, Claudia and Owen; brother Joseph William (Margaret) Dougherty of Mt. Carmel; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Carolyn; siblings, Sabrina Dougherty Risley, Mark Dougherty, Patrick Dougherty and Kirk Dougherty.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Tim’s funeral will be Friday, January 20, 2023, at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial checks may be made out to a fund for Claudia and Owen Dougherty.
