Edward B. “Ed” Thompson, 53, of Albion, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on May 10, 1967 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Jimmy and Barbara (Hamilton) Thompson. He married Kim Kennard on March 25, 1995 and together they have enjoyed twenty-five years of marriage, centered around their family.
Ed, also known as “Eddie” to his family, close friends and classmates, was a dedicated employee of Albion Equipment Company as a service technician for thirty-one years. He took his job seriously and always made sure to do his best to be helpful and get the job done right. Ed was an avid sports fan. He greatly enjoyed playing, watching and coaching basketball. His favorite team to follow was U of I Basketball and his favorite professional player was Michael Jordan. Ed also enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and was a NASCAR fan. He often participated in dirt bike races around the area. He loved being involved with 4-H activities and Jackpot Pig Shows. He was always the last to leave these events, making sure no one was left behind who might need any help with anything. Dearest to Ed’s heart was his family. He was very proud of his children and all of their accomplishments. He was a member of Little Prairie Christian Church and he will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Ed leaves behind his loving wife, Kim; children, Trent Thompson, Tori Thompson; mother, Barbara Thompson; brother, Craig Thompson and wife Stacy; sister, Marsha Runyon and husband Mark; mother-in-law, Suzie Kennard; brother-in-law, Dan Kennard; sisters-in-law, Denia Hedge, Nickie Osborne, Diane Kennard; several nieces, nephews, cousins; close and dearest friends, Trevor and Jackie Borowiak, and Derek Moore.
Ed was preceded in death by his father; father-in-law, Charles Kennard; brother-in-law, Brett Kennard.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 8, 2021 at Little Prairie Christian Church in Albion, IL. Please enter through the North Entrance. Social distancing practices and use of hand sanitizer will be in place.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Little Prairie Christian Church with Pastor Tom Cater officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Albion, IL.
