Wilma A. “Billie” Spray, 83, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born December 18, 1937 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of William L. and Ruth E. (Brouillette) Trimble. She married Billy Keith Spray who preceded her in death.
Billie was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who devoted herself to homemaking and caring for her family. She loved to cook and her family affectionately referred to her as the “Thanksgiving Aunt” as everyone gathered at her home to enjoy a bountiful feast. Billie often packed up a picnic to enjoy outside, sometimes at the spur of the moment. She enjoyed watching the birds being outdoors. Some of her favorite times were family vacations spent at Kentucky Lake with her sister, Motsy, and her family. Billie enjoyed music and singing along. One of her favorite fall activities was attending the Covered Bridge Festival. Billie was a member of the Homemakers Extension, The Daughters of Isabella and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Billie leaves behind her son, Mike Spray; daughter, Lisa Horn and husband Michael; three grandchildren, Avery Horn, Noah Horn, Hailey Spray; brother, Brad Trimble and wife Vicki; sister, Ruth Towens; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Bob Trimble; sisters Carolyn Dougherty, Sister Mary Joyce Trimble and Motsy Renck.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 1, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Social distancing practices will be in place and facial coverings will be required.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 1, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Robert Zwilling officiating. Following the Mass, Billie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Bill, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Billie’s memory to Wabash County Shelter Buddies or St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the Church or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
