Milo “Mike” James Sr., 92, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born August 5, 1926 in Bellmont, Illinois, the son of John and Nancy (Murphy) James. He married Patricia Sanford on August 18, 1968 and together they enjoyed fifty years of marriage.
Mike faithfully served his Country in the United States Army for four years. He was very proud of being a Veteran of WWII. Mike worked for Schoenheit Trucking for fifteen years. He was a hard worker which was evident in his dedicated work ethic. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed camping, horse back riding and vacationing in Florida. He loved to dance. Mike also enjoyed reading and watching western movies. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mike loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Patricia; daughters; Nancy (Buddy) Johnson, Mickie (Duane) Smith; daughter-in-law, Jenny James; step-daughter, Kay (Bill) Wheatcroft; Grandchildren, Kim (Brent) Weir, Trudy Lagow, Teresa (Brian) Kern, Dustin Hale, Carrie (Jeremy) Devine, Pam (Josh) Oliver, Andrea James; step-grandchildren, Jeff (Shelly) Osborne, Jammie Osborne, Michelle (David) Ferguson, Chris Hortin, and Nicole (Tom) Kramer; twenty six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; son, Milo “Buddy” James Jr; step-son, Jim Osborne; one infant sister, Mary Ivy James; four brothers, Ellsworth, Russel, Earl and Walter James.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Tom Kramer officiating. The local USAMV Honor Guard will provide Full Military Honors.
