James Boyd Perkins, 77, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 1, 1949, in Princeton, Indiana, the son of Earl and Beatrice (Armstrong) Perkins.
Jim lived a life defined by service, generosity, and hard work. An Army Veteran who served during the Korean War, he carried that sense of duty with him throughout his life. Jim found joy in woodworking, often crafting heartfelt gifts for the people he loved. He enjoyed the freedom of riding motorcycles, the satisfaction of coaching sports, and the fulfillment of staying active. The woods were his sanctuary, hunting and spending time in nature brought him peace. Above all, he loved spending time in his garage, working on special projects. Jim will be remembered for his giving spirit, his craftsmanship, and the steady kindness he offered to anyone in need.
Jim leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer Frank and husband, Tony; stepdaughter, Mickie Clem and husband, Tony; stepson, Scott Dillard and wife Megan; four grandchildren, Cassie (Jason) Martin, Willie Hayes, T.J.
