Edward “Ed” Wayne Farrar, 51, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on November 28, 1974, in Mount Carmel, the son of Bobby Joe Farrar and Beverly Ann (Newlin) Farrar.
Ed owned and operated The Auto Clinic in Mount Carmel for many years, earning the trust and respect of countless customers through his fairness, honesty, and skill. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer advice, or go the extra mile for someone in need. Through his business, Ed developed many lasting friendships and treasured the relationships he built with his customers and community. A true country boy at heart, he loved country music, spending time with his family, and taking vacations to Gatlinburg. He had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and was a devoted Harley-Davidson enthusiast, often owning four or five bikes at a time. Some of his happiest moments were spent sitting in his shop among his motorcycles, a place that brought him comfort, peace, and time to reflect. Ed also enjoyed history, following the Dallas Cowboys, fishing, and cooking, especially preparing meals in his Dutch oven. Among the many people who influenced his life, his grandfather, Lester Farrar, was the man he admired most and considered the greatest man he ever knew.
Ed leaves behind his sons, Luke Farrar, Quinton Farrar; fiancé, Annie Phillippe; stepchildren who he thought of as his own, Warren (Bri-Andra) Riker, Cheyenne (Nora) Riker, Stacey (James) Cupp; eight grandchildren, Ethyn, Kadance, Gabe, Adrian, Sophia, Timmy, Gracie, Bella; sister, Michelle (John Wilson) Murray; brother, Tony (Mindy) Farrar; many loved nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Melissa (Farrar) Burdin; an infant brother.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2026, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2026, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ed’s memory to his family to help with final expenses, or to St. Jude Hospital.
