Judith Banks, 83, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, Passed away Monday, October 19, 2026, at home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 30, 1943, in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of Lenes Tatro and Jessie (Dill) Tatro. On October 9, 1959, she married David Banks at the United Methodist Church in Mount Carmel and the enjoyed sixty-three years of marriage until his passing on October 24, 2022.
Judy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She dedicated herself to making a loving home for her family. Judy was an avid member of Gospel Kingdom Church and loved attending services. In her spare time, she enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting and spending time at the river, having family cook outs and frying fish. Judy enjoyed attending flea markets, hunting for treasures to add to her collection. Most of all, Judy loved her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most joy. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Judy leaves behind her son, David “Bub” Banks; daughter, Carlina Snelling and husband Tim; grandchildren, Sara Banks, Chris (Mandy) Snelling, Nick Snelling, Charles Banks, Lacie (Jason) Perry, Timmy Snelling, Shaleigh (Keith) Kline; great-grandchildren, River Banks Perry, Josie Banks, Gracie Banks, Preston Perry, Timmy Ray Snelling III, Jasper Snelling, Logan Snelling, and Benjamin Snelling;
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; siblings, Linda Wirth, and Jene Tatro.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Keepes Funeral Home.
Graveside Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Bethel Cemetery with Brother Brandon Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow where Judy will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
Memorial contributions may be made in Judy’s memory to Wabash Rally Against Cancer (WRAC). Envelopes will be at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
