Craig M. Reisinger, 80, of Mt. Carmel, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 26, 2025, at Deaconess Memorial Hospital in Jasper, IN.
He was born on Tuesday January 16, 1945, in Mt. Carmel, IL, to Jacob and Vera (Swan) Reisinger. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School Class of 1963 and continued his education by earning a bachelor’s degree from Greenville College and was awarded a master’s degree from Utah State University. Craig taught, coached basketball, and was a principal for the Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Navajo Reservation from 1967 to 1979. He then worked for the Sevier County Board of Education in Sevierville TN from 1981 to 2011 where he taught math, adult education, and served as an assistant principal.
Craig was an Eagle Scout and in his early adult years was a Boy Scout Leader. He loved animals, especially his cat. He also enjoyed all kinds of sports. He was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Free Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons Matthew Reisinger and Michael Reisinger. He is also survived by one grandson, Aaron. Preceding him in death were his parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the chapel of Short Cunningham Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at the funeral home, 527 N Mulberry St. in Mt. Carmel.
Burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery will follow the service.
