Thomas Edgar Tinsley, 74, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on December 7, 1950 in Centralia, Illinois to Leroy and Claire L. (West) Tinsley. Thomas married Terri L. Clark on February 12, 1983 at Methodist Temple in Evansville, Indiana.
Thomas graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and attended Western Kentucky University on a golf scholarship. After graduation, he played golf on the Mini-Tour, then he worked as a supervisor at Wabash Asphalt.
He loved playing golf and watching golf as one of his favorite pastimes. Thomas taught his daughters, Emily and Maggie, how to play golf as they were growing up, and he was currently teaching his granddaughter, Lilly.
Thomas was a big supporter of local sports, but he loved attending all sporting events, and yes he certainly let the referees know when they were wrong.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Terri (Clark) Tinsley of Mt. Carmel, Il; daughters, Emily (Jacob) Brown of Bloomington, IN, and Maggie Tinsley of Lexington, KY; granddaughters, Lilly and Evelyn Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Trudy Tucker.
A celebration of life visitation will be on Tuesday July 29, 2025, at Short Cunningham Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wabash County Shelter Buddies or Mt. Carmel High School (Boys or Girls) golf team. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
