Shirley M. Bobbitt, 70, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on November 15, 1954 in Streator, Illinois, the daughter of Lawrence M. and Juanita (McIntyre) Whalen. Shirley married Edward Bobbitt on December 11, 1971 and together they enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage.
Shirley cherished family gatherings, finding great joy in spending time with her loved ones. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she enjoyed keeping up with all their activities. Shirley had a passion for collecting Boyd’s Bears, which added a unique touch to her home and reflected her warm, sentimental nature. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
Shirley will be remembered by her husband, Ed Bobbitt; son, Chris Bobbitt; two daughters, Kim Epley and husband, John, Dawn Kleinschmidt and husband, Aaron; grandchildren, Dalton (Courtney) Epley, Landon (Josie) Epley, Hayleigh Bobbitt, Alex Richie, Winter Dill, Erica Dill, Ava Kleinschmidt, Ian Kleinschmidt; great grandson, Aiden Dill; great granddaughter, Liliana Dill; and brother, Tim Whalen.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; grandson Aiden Kleinschmidt; and brother, Rick McIntyre.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2025 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2025 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
