Wanda Jean (Tice) Guisewite/Gibbons, 84, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, at The Villas of Hollybrook in Mt. Carmel surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. A burial will follow the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
There will be a visitation for family and friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
Wanda was born February 17, 1940, the daughter of Ray and Mary Elizabeth (Hocking) Tice in Keensburg, Illinois. She graduated from high school in 1958. Wanda married Gene Guisewite. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage before his death on May 18, 1998. On May 14, 2005, Wanda married Tom Gibbons at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. They had nineteen wonderful years together.
Wanda was a member of Roads Church in Mt. Carmel. She was very active in church and church activities. She was known as a prayer warrior for family, friends, and church family. Wanda started and led a lady’s prayer group in her home for 39 years. Her love of cooking for her family led her to start a catering business while raising her two boys. She operated that business for fourteen years. Wanda enjoyed shopping and traveling, with Israel being her favorite. Most of all, she loved the time spent with her family. Her Skip-Bo tournaments were legendary for her family and even neighbor kids.
Left to cherish Wanda’s memory are her husband, Tom; boys, Jeff (Aimee) Guisewite and Mike (Terri) Guisewite; step children, Mike (Sue) Gibbons and Donna (Terry) Leek; grandchildren, Derek (Casandra) Guisewite, Reilly (Josh) Welborn, Amanda Guisewite (significant other Beth Hatton) and Tucker (Regan) Guisewite; greatgrandchildren, Bently, Brantley, Colt and Payton Guisewite, Aria and Isla Welborn, and Rook and Ripken Guisewite; and a sister, Maralyn Schuler.
Preceding Wanda in death were her parents and first husband, Gene.
