Kevin Wayne Cowling, 63, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 25, 2024, at home. He was born on July 10, 1960, in Mount Carmel, the son of Marion “Jr.” Cowling and Mildred Joyce (Rayborn) Cowling.
Kevin worked in the construction business in his earlier years, where he traveled a lot for work. Later he took on several painting jobs and was always proud of his work when finished. His motto was work smarter not harder. Kevin was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed his time spent at the river camp and boating on the river. Gatherings with his family and friends was one of his favorite things to do. Kevin loved hanging out in the garage, jamming to his rock and roll music on his Pioneer stereo, or watching music videos on his big screen TV. He was a fan of NASCAR and collected a lot of Dale Earnhardt memorabilia. Kevin enjoyed camping trips with family and traveling to Mexico with Jeri. Kevin was an easy-going man who loved life. He was an all-around good guy, ready to help a friend in need. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel VFW #1426, Mt. Carmel Eagles #3066, and the Princeton American Legion #25. Kevin’s presence will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Kevin leaves behind his sister, Pamela Windle; brother, Tracy Cowling; best companion and true love, Jeri Glick; nieces and nephews, Kristi (Perry) Case, Zachary (Clara) Cowling, Britney (Evan) Kieffer, Raney Windle; several great nieces and great nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Kevin’s life will be held at the Mt. Carmel VFW on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 2:00p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery at a later date.
