Billie Sue “Sudie” Morris, 80

Billie Sue “Sudie” Morris, 80, of Keensburg, Illinois, passed away Friday, May 26,2023, at home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on May 12, 1943, in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of Richard “Dick” and Mary Martha (Stowers) Horgan.   She married Jerry Leon Morris on June 26, 1965, and together they enjoyed forty-five years of marriage until his passing on April 25, 2011. 

 Sudie was a member of the MCHS Graduating Class of 1963.  She worked in several retail and food service businesses through the years, including the Wagon Wheel, Dairy Queen and the Deli at IGA.  Sudie made many friends and acquaintances while working which she enjoyed visiting with, and it seemed she never met a stranger.  In her spare time, she enjoyed keeping up with NASCAR and watching HGTV programs.  Sudie enjoyed spending time with her family, babysitting, and loved going out to eat with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She attended Keensburg Christian Church.  Sudie will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

 Sudie leaves behind a son, Tommy Morris; daughter; Jerri Kay Perry; grandchildren, Ashley Perry, Jennifer Perry, Race Morris, Chassis Morris, Samantha Harrison; great-grandchildren, Brooklynne Gunzel, Ava Covalt, Karma Perry, Kristen Covalt, Roselynne Payne, Zeke Stewart; one brother, Richard Horgan Jr. “Dickie” and wife Rina.

 Sudie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; great-grandson, Aiden M. Covalt; two sisters, Martha Thompson, and Mary Frances Kitts.

 Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2023, at Keensburg Christian Church in Keensburg, Illinois. 

 Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2023, with Pastor Allan Wright officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, where Sudie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Jerry.

 Memorial contributions may be made in Sudie’s memory to the family to help with her final expenses.  Check may be made to Jennifer Perry, or Tommy Morris.  Envelopes will be at the church or may be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
