Judy Maass, 78

Judy Maass, 78, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. She was born on August 24, 1944, in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of Robert and Vivian (Mastaw) Smith.

Judy was a very good cook, which was also her occupation over the years. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed watching NASCAR. In her spare time, Judy enjoyed gardening, working in her flower beds and bird watching, especially the cardinal birds. She was a very giving person who loved to the fullest. Judy’s family and grandbabies brought special joy to her heart. When visiting back home in Mount Carmel, Judy attended Grace Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Judy leaves behind her life partner, Carter Lear’; one son, Robert Lowery and wife Caren; two daughters, Vi-Linda Lowery, Ronda Cooper; grandchildren, William Ellis III, Ronda Cullison, Justin Lowery, Levi Glick, Chelsea Allen, Miryha Cooper, Jasmine Moore, Clyde Harper; several loved great-grandchildren; brothers, Mike (Tonia) Bobbitt, Edward (Shirley) Bobbitt, Rodger (Bonnie) Bobbitt; one sister, Sherry Bailey; half-sister, Myrna Moffitt; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Smith and Vivian and Lewis Bobbitt; one sister, Brenda Schmidt; brothers, Ronnie Smith, and Steve Bobbitt.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

A family Burial Service will be held at Friendsville Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Judy’s memory to the VFW Auxiliary. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home or may be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry St., Mt. Carmel, IL 62863.
