Mary Sue Nation, 83, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on September 23, 1938, in West Virginia, the daughter of John and Alice (Parks) Gross. She married James Nation and together they enjoyed fifty-eight years of marriage until his passing on March 14, 2018.
Mary was a loving homemaker. She enjoyed listening to country music, watching old movies, and playing lottery tickets. She was a wrestling and football sports fan with her favorite team to follow being the Indianapolis Colts. Mary was of the Presbyterian Faith. She loved her family deeply and will be dearly missed.
Mary leaves behind three sons, Tom (Rebecca) Hammond, Jim (Cathy) Nation, Darrin Nation; two daughters, Mary Bridwell, Kathy Ellington; seventeen grandchildren; many loved great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Copper; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one infant son; one grandson; two sisters, Shirley Roe, Linda Wescott; three brothers, David Gross, Garland Gross, Wendell Summers
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, cremation will take place and no formal services are planned.
