Georgia King, 86, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab Center, surrounded by her family.
She was born on Wednesday, March 29,1936 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of George and Helen Lucille (Leach) Garrett.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was the secretary for Ashland Pipeline for thirty-five years. She served Wabash County as an EMT for several years. Georgia retired from at Wabash General Hospital, where she worked in registration.
During high school Georgia was a majorette dancer and played clarinet in the band. She was also crowned homecoming queen. Throughout her life she enjoyed doing puzzles and reading. She loved spending time with her family and held a special place in her heart for her dogs.
Georgia is survived by her two children Tony (Robin) Compton of Newburgh, IN, and Michelle M. (Glen) Wiseman of Browns, IL., seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and one brother, Tom (Paula) Garrett of Mt. Carmel, IL.
Preceding her in death was her father, George Garrett, mother and stepfather who raised her Ray and Helen Stangle and sister, Judy Raye Stangle.
Per her wishes she is to be cremated and a family graveside service will be held at a later date.
