Mark S. Daniel, 65, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, left this world to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab, where he was loved by staff and residents alike. He was born on October 29, 1957, in Sikeston Missouri, the son of Donald Joe, and Charlene (Hazel) Daniel.
Mark was a 1976 graduate of Mount Carmel High School where he participated in wrestling and was a manager for the Aces football and basketball teams. He enjoyed collecting model cars and was an avid photographer who loved capturing pictures of all kinds. Mark was a fan of baseball and was a former Cubs fan turned Cardinals. He was a kind soul and very friendly. He loved the Christmas Holiday season and would often dress as Santa Claus. Mark was very well known to area residents from his forty-one years working at the local grocery stores. He loved to talk to the children and aways told them to be good for mom and dad. Mark loved his family, and his nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart. He was a member of First General Baptist Church, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Mark leaves behind his beloved mother, Charlene; sister, Debra McClellan and husband Tom of Owensville, IN; brothers, Don Daniel and wife, Gail of Petersburg, IN, Chuck Daniel of Mount Carmel; one niece, Valerie McClellan; three nephews, Brian McClellan, Ben (Amanda) Daniel, and Caleb (Daniele) Daniel; along with ten loved great nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his father.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2022, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 12:30 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2022, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home, with Pastor Gary Underwood officiating. Burial will follow at Lick Prairie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mark’s memory to First General Baptist Church.
