Danny Michael Foshee, 88

Danny Michael Foshee, 88, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 6, 1932, in Mount Carmel, the son of James Edward and Grace (Hoffner) Foshee. On August 20, 1954, at the First Christian Church in Mount Carmel, Danny married Betty Virginia Marx and together they enjoyed sixty-seven years of marriage.

Danny, known to many as Mike, or Dan, was a member of the Mount Carmel High School Graduating Class of 1950. He then faithfully served his country in the Army National Guard until 1953. From April of 1951 to February of 1953, Danny served in California as Private First Class.

Danny worked for Dowell, a Division of Dow Chemical, from 1953 to 1983, providing stimulation service, acidizing, fracturing, and cementing for the oil industry. He began as an Equipment Operator at the rate of ninety-seven cents per hour. During his thirty-year career with Dowell, he spent three years stationed in Michigan, and twenty-seven years in Mount Carmel, covering mostly the tri-state area of Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky. Danny worked hard at many positions throughout the years, and he greatly valued the many friendships he made along the way.

Danny kept busy during his retirement. He took a position with M & S Oil Well Cementing Company as Acidizing Service Manager for seven years. He enjoyed working a part-time job at Rural King and then established his own business, Foshee Lawn Mower Repair. He and Betty made some great memories traveling to visit family and friends. Their summer vacations to Kentucky Lake, Tulsa, and St. Louis with children, friends, and extended family gave them great joy. In 1986 they ventured to England to visit their daughter, Lynn, and her family. Spending time with the Reed grandchildren in Virginia and visiting Mike’s sister, Sandy, in Florida were among their favorite trips.

Danny was a long-time member and served as a Deacon of First Christian Church, having been baptized in 1944. He volunteered as a Caretaker of Jordan Creek Cemetery. He loved his family, and they cherished his love and guidance as well. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Mike leaves behind his beloved wife, Betty; children; Lynn Annette Foshee Reed and husband Timothy, Jeffrey Michael Foshee and wife, Kathy, David Edward Foshee and wife Marsha; eight grandchildren, Michael Andrew (Carrie) Reed, Hana Rebecca (Cody) Voight, David Matthew Reed, Aaron Michael (Becca) Foshee, Johnathan Patrick Irvin Foshee, Samantha Morgan Foshee, Christian Alexander (Draven) Foshee, Lillian Grace Foshee; nine great-grandchildren, Lucianna Corinne Reed, Devlin Kendrick Reed, Eamon Sobek Voight, Raelynn Louise Foshee, Rhett Brian Michael Foshee, Alexander Hadrian Hoffman, Zailyn Marie Foshee, Anderson Ray Foshee, Royce David Foshee; sister, Sandy Walker, and special niece, Becky Jackman.
