Jackie Wayne “Jack” Johnson, 82, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on March 22, 1939 in Wabash County, Illinois, the son of Forest and Flora (Abell) Johnson. Jack married Bonnie Mattox on June 24, 1962 and together they enjoyed fifty-nine years of marriage centered on family.
Jack will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed time when his family was all together. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time fishing and hunting. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering where he worked as a civil engineer in Effingham County, IL for twenty-five years and also worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for ten years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1016 in Effingham, IL and also the Masonic Lodge #752 in Allendale. Jack was also a member of Wabash Presbyterian Church in Orio, IL. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Jack will be remembered by his loving wife, Bonnie Johnson of Allendale; daughter, Cheryl (Jabez) Coggan III of Florida; grandchildren, James (Samantha) Johnson, Alan Johnson, Jaclyn (Zack) Meade, Maia (Ruben) Marquez and Jabez Coggan IV; great grandchildren, Braxton, Benjamin, Lucy, Catherine, Madilyn, and Aria; daughter in law, Stella Johnson; Brothers in law, Bill (Peggy) Mattox and Mike Mattox; sisters in law, Coralee (Delmar) Skeen and Candace Adair; many loved nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; son, Eric Wayne Johnson; two brothers, Ray and Gene Johnson.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin McGinnis officiating. Burial will follow at Allendale Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for a Visitation from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2021 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
