Robert P. Fournier, 86

Robert P. Fournier, 86, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, formerly of Ojai, California, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Wabash General Hospital.

He was born January 25, 1935 in Fall River, Massachusetts, the only child of Peter and Lucy (Talbot) Fournier. He graduated high school, went to one year of college where he studied journalism and played baseball for a Red Sox farm team, then went straight into the U.S. Navy.

He served four years, April 20, 1954 to April 14, 1958. During his Navy years, Robert was a boxer and manned the gunner on his ship. He enjoyed traveling all over the world.

Robert married Peggy June Carlton on June 22, 1968, and she survives. They have three children; Sherrice (John) Weeces of Ojai, CA, Molly (Nick) Krill Schlesinger of Oxnard, CA, Rob (Jennifer) Fournier of Mt. Carmel; two grandchildren Nikolai Schlesinger and Zoe Krill; seven step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and Aunt Edith Talbot.

He worked as a manufacturing foreman for Arcturus Manufacturing Corporation in Oxnard, CA. The company made parts for the military, Boeing, Lockhead Martin, and NASA. He received the Silver Snoopy Award from NASA for his work. He retired after working forty years.

Robert was the sweetest, gentlest man with a silly sense of humor and a deep and abiding love for his wife and children.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated. There is no service planned at this time.
