Phyllis R. Grassinger, 90, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, Indiana, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born July 24, 1931, the daughter of William Thomas and Hazel May (Hughes) Dwyer, in Marion, Illinois. Phyllis graduated from Marion High School. On August 13, 1949, she married F. P. Grassinger in Marion, Illinois.
Phyllis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She owned and operated Grassinger Rentals. Phyllis was an avid reader, Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed travelling with her husband. Her greatest love was being with her family.
Left to cherish Phyllis’ memory are her children, Patrice (Ron) Youngs of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Alyce (Sam) Tanner of Evansville, Indiana, Laura (David) Wilderman of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and Michelle (Tim) Cornelius of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Hannah (Kris) Stunkel, Erin Wilderman, Jessica Merlet, Victoria Youngs, Anna Cornelius and Thomas Cornelius; and one greatgrandchild, Liam Stunkel.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
There will be a Funeral Mass Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 125 W. 5th Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Marion, Illinois.
