Imogene M. “Jean” Hocking, 89

Imogene M. “Jean” Hocking, 89, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab in Mt. Carmel surrounded by her loving family.

Jean was born in Richland County, IL on July 10, 1930 the daughter of Olin and Gladys (Jones) Fiscus. She graduated Mt. Carmel High School.

On July 21, 1947 Jean married Webster Hocking at the home of his parents in Keensburg Illinois.

Jean is a member of Keensburg Christian Church. She worked for her brother, Don, as secretary and bookkeeper of Fiscus Well Service and D & D Repair. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandkids and taking them on trips. She enjoyed square dancing and working in her yard and home and growing flowers. Jean was most proud of being a Breast Cancer Survivor.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Rita (Butch) Wilcox of Prescott, AZ, Bonnie Hocking of McLean, IL, Steven (Joy) Hocking of Keensburg, IL; grandchildren, Jason (Simone) Sprinkle, Cassie Hocking, Wayne (Whitney) Hocking, Justin (Mindy) Hocking, Kim Harney, Sheila (Scott) Miles; great grandchildren, Alycia (Corey Lamay) Sprinkle, Riven and Aiden Sprinkle, Nicole and Michael Sprinkle, Xander, Maddox, Bailey, Riley and Lydia Hocking, Amanda and Elizabeth Harney, Dylan Miles; and great great grandchildren, Micah Murphy, Lucas Lamay, Alexis Lamay; sister, Rev. Blanche Fiscus; brother-in-law, Andy (Patsy) Hocking; and sisters-in-law, Jane Hocking, Patty Tice, Jesse Fetcher, Joy Fiscus; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; Web, her husband of 49 years; brothers, Bob, Stanley, Don and Norton Fiscus; sister, Dorcie Leach; and grandson, Michael Sprinkle; sister-in-law, Mary Tice; brothers-in-law, Sam, Jack and Fred Hocking.

Visitation for Jean Hocking will be Monday, February 3, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry, Mt. Carmel, IL. Her funeral service will be Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home with burial service to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, College Drive, Mt. Carmel. Memorials in Jean’s memory can be made to Keensburg Christian Church.
