Lois Jean Hinderliter, 97, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Oakview Nursing Home. She was born September 28, 1921 in Mattoon Illinois, the daughter of George and Sylvia (Daly) Strine. She was married to Wayne Robert Hinderliter who preceded her in death.
Lois had worked at Champion Laboratories for many years before her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her garden. Lois was always active in her church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School at Gospel Assembly Church. More recently she was a member of Christ Chapel in Evansville, IN. She loved her family and will be dearly missed.
Lois will be remembered by her son, Robert Hinderliter; daughter, Deloris Ann (Gary) Wood; grandson, Mick Wood; great-grandsons, Ryan, Dereck and Robert (L.B.) Hinderliter, Ty and Drew Wood; several nieces, nephews and close friend, Mary Brock.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband; grandsons, Robert, Brian and Lynn Hinderliter; parents; sisters, Geraldine Hoffman, Margaret Smith; brothers, Paul, Merrell and John Strine.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Hughes and Pastor Tony Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow at Moravian Cemetery in West Salem, Illinois.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lois’ memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
