Kenneth Allen Cook, 70, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away on August 18, 2019, at his residence with his wife by his side.
He was born January 26, 1949, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Roy Zelbert and Mildred Lucille (Earnest) Cook. Kenneth honorably served two tours of duty in the United States Army in Vietnam, receiving two purple hearts. On February 28, 1987, he married Donna Elaine Cash in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
Kenneth was a mechanic, owning and operating a garage in Bridgeport, Illinois. He was an electrician and heavy equipment mover. Kenneth was a ham radio operator, enjoyed using his CB Radio and loved motorcycles.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Donna, of 32 years; daughters, Jennifer Lynn Gideon and husband Kevin, Dana Marie Delong and husband Dallas and Megan Nicole Cook; siblings, Betty Joe Poland, Roy Daniel Cook, Sheila Catherine (John) Hoh, Robert Keith (Sharon Annette) Cook, Roger Dale Cook and Claude William (Becky) Cook; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Johnny Poland; and sister-in-law Audrey Cook.
Family and friends may gather for a visitation Thursday, August 22, 2019, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. There will be no formal service.
