Opal Sprinkle, 101, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away Friday, October 11, 2019 at Wabash General Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. She was born August 11, 1918 in Charleston Arkansas, the daughter of Granville Lee and Mary Katherine (Brown) Mitchell. She married Lloyd Sprinkle who preceded her in death.
Opal was devoted homemaker. Spending time in her yard and garden brought her great pleasure. She enjoyed sewing for her family and her home. Opal loved listening to Southern Gospel music and attended concerts as long as she was able. She was a member of Lancaster Zion United Methodist Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Opal will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Deena Kurtz and her husband, Dale; sisters, Lorine Sanders, La Juana Hampton; sisters in law, Wanda Mitchell, Elnora Deisher; and many nieces and nephews.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, John Ann Lanning, Cleo Smith, Inez Mullaney, Hazel Couch, Theda Leighty; Brothers, Giles, Duane and Don Mitchell.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
Graveside Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Michael Payne officiating.
