Shirley Eileen Glenn

Shirley Eileen Glenn, 75, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana surrounded by the love of her family. She was born April 14, 1942 in Wabash County, Illinois the daughter of Elmer and Mina (McClane) Seaton. Shirley married Franklin Glenn on July 9, 1960 and he preceded her in death after fifty two years of marriage.

During Shirley’s early employment years, she worked as a switch board operator for GTE Phone Company. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, she managed the Maxi Boutique store in Mount Carmel. For the ten years prior to retiring, Shirley was employed at Walmart in the layaway department. Shirley dearly loved her family. Her Grandchildren and great-grandchildren could always bring a smile to her face. She greatly enjoyed quilting. She was a member of the local Homespun Quilters Club and looked forward each week to the visits from her special quilting friend, Diane Lommock. Shirley was a member of the Mount Carmel High School graduating class of 1960. She had a strong Christian Faith with Christmas being her most favorite time of year. Although she will be greatly missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she will be spending Christmas in Heaven from now on.

Shirley will be remembered by her sons, Kenny (Velvet) Glenn, Gary Glenn; grandchildren, Toni, Leslie, Phillip (Katie) and Chelsea Glenn; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Macy, and Maya Glenn; brother, Clayton Seaton; sister, Evelyn (Larry) Vickers.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Karen Annette Glenn; sister, Oma Seaton; brothers, Robert, Nova, Leo and Cedric Seaton.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Minister Fred Crane officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton, Indiana.

Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
