On 9/28/23, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Kevin R. Harms, age 58, of Mt. Carmel for Domestic Battery following a dispute at a residence in the 1000 block of Pear Street. Police responded to the scene to investigate a 911 hangup call. Upon arrival, officers learned of a possible domestic dispute. In speaking to the involved parties, officers found evidence that Harms, who was visibly intoxicated, had thrown a liquid all over the alleged female victim while also striking her with a metal trash can. Harms had been in a prior dating relationship with the alleged victim. Harms was placed under arrest and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged and held pending a pretrial detention determination by the court.
