On 9/27/23, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Ramone C. Washington, age 45, currently of Mt. Carmel on a Will County Illinois Warrant for Aggravated Battery and Domestic Battery. Police observed Washington operating a gray Dodge truck at 9th & Bainum and found the vehicle registration suspended, his driver’s license revoked out of Illinois and the above-mentioned warrant for his arrest. The officer attempted to stop Washington as he traveled west on 9th Street but he failed to stop. Another officer pulled in front of the Dodge at 9th & Oak but Washington maneuvered around that squad car and continued westbound. Ultimately, Washington pulled into the Dollar General Parking Lot in the 1500 block of West 9th Street. Washington was placed under arrest at this time. Officers located several items used to ingest narcotics and cannabis inside the vehicle as well. Washington was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was issued charges for Fleeing/Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Suspended Registration, Revoked Driver’s License, Operating Uninsured Vehicle and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Additionally, the warrant was found valid resulting in Washington being held pending the posting of bond or extradition back to Will County.
