A resident near the 4th Street ball park wants the Mt. Carmel City Council to do something about balls being hit into his vehicles and house. Doug Hatchett lives right across the street from the ballpark and he said balls being hit onto his property hasn’t been a problem until this year. He said one ball caused $600 damage to his new pickup truck. Hatchett asked if the netting could be installed adjacent to the top of the fence to keep batted balls from coming his direction. City Commissioner Justin Dulgar, who is also Little League president, said the issue has been explored but it would cost $8,000 to replace the fencing and make it taller. But, commissioner Tom Meeks said the city would find a solution to the problem until Little League finds a permanent fix.
