Mt. Carmel Man Faces Multiple Charges After Early Morning Chase

On 10/12/21 at 5 am, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Dirk A. More, age 43, of Mt. Carmel, for Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Disobeying a Traffic Control Device, Speeding over 35 mph over the posted speed limit, and Failure to Report a Property Damage Accident. On this date, a Mt. Carmel Officer was patrolling on College Drive when a silver Dodge Ram passed him at a high rate of speed. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, at which time the Dodge Ram continued to increase speed. The Dodge turned into the Forio Dr. subdivision across from Highland Cemetery, then turned into the dead-end road Morris Dr. The truck turned around, struck a mailbox, nearly collided with the pursuing officer, and returned to College Drive northbound. The vehicle continued until stopping at a residence in the 2500 block of College Dr., parking the vehicle inside a garage. Officers located the driver and placed him under arrest. More was transported to the Wabash County Jail, where he was charged and held pending a bond setting by a judge.
