The Lady Aces Volleyball team had their season opener Monday night against a very experienced Carmi team.
The Varsity match the Aces fell in two sets 11-25, 7-25. Carmi came out hard and fast, with two very strong returning outside attackers, and a strong defense. They were a tough matchup boasting a super sectional appearance last season.
The Aces will build on the loss, and see ways they can get better. There was some nerves, and unforced errors, we will see improvement on tonight.
Highlights from the match were Jayla Johnson 1 digs, 1 kill, Tenley Davis 3 digs, Lyla Keepes, 2 kills, 1 dig, Kyleigh Smith 1 dig, Gabby Schneider 1 dig, 3 assists.
The JV team lost in 2 sets, 20-25, 21-25. The JV team played well, we did have some break downs in serve receive, and serving errors. Without those couple of breakdowns, we had a high chance of winning against a strong Carmi JV. I was very happy with the defense and attacking confidence. Some highlights, Kinley Harris 8 assists, Leah Lewis 6 kills, 3 digs, Avery Coston 4 aces 1 kill, Gracee Haggard 3 aces, 2 digs, 4 kills, Cate Pyatt 1 kill, 1 block, Journey Loudermilk 4 kills, Mercedes Dillard 2 digs, 1 assist, Quincy Keepes 7 assists, Addison Mobley 1 kill.
The Freshman team lost in 2 sets. They played with less errors the first set, and made it close, but had less consistency the second. 20-25, 8-25.
Next up the Lady Aces will face off against another tough opponent Edwards County on Thursday the 28th at Edwards County. It’s always electric playing at EC with their big fan base. Come support the Aces take on the Lions tonight!
