WVC Starts 2nd Half of Season With Win

When you are hot you are hot. Last night at the Spencer Sports Center the Wabash Valley College Warriors improved to 8-5 with a 94 to 83 win over Three Rivers Community College. The Raiders are now 6-7 but was 10-2 before they had to forfeit four games for using an ineligible player.

The Warriors got off to a great start hitting 9 of 12 three pointers in the first half. The team played maybe their best 34 minutes of basketball this season. The Raiders kept playing hard and after trailing by as many as 28 points early in the second half would close the gap late to within 12 points. In the last four minutes and 20 seconds the Raiders would out score the Warriors 12 to 1. Five different Warriors would hit from behind the arc lead by Marcus Garrett who was four for four, Jalen Newsom was 4 for 7 and Tyressee Williford, Cam Gross, and Marcel Cherry each had two threes. Garrett was the leading scorer with 24 points followed by Williford and Newsome each had 14 Jordon Bell had 11 and Austin Trice had 10. Trice also had a double-double with 11 rebounds. Mike Carpenter got good offensive effort from his team as well as defensively for a total team effort in this first win of the second semester WVC has now won four games in a row.

Three Rivers had three players in double figures lead by Charles Wilson with 24, Aidan Saunders off the bench with 20 and Keiondre Jefferson had 19.

Now the Warriors will go into Great Rivers Athletic Conference play. Saturday they will travel to Rend Lake for afternoon games
