Lady Rockets Comeback Comes Up Short

On Monday, December 4th, the St. Mary’s Lady Rockets traveled to Jasper (Fairfield) Grade School to take on the New Hope Lady Panthers in the first round of the WEAA Conference Tournament. New Hope defeated St. Mary’s, 33 – 30. St. Mary’s trailed at the end of the first quarter 9 – 0; 17 – 8 at halftime; and 29 – 17 at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Rockets outscored New Hope 13 -4 in the fourth quarter, but just couldn’t pull out the win. Eden Wankel led St. Mary’s in scoring with 10 points. Emma Keepes added 6 points, Savannah Zimmerman 6 points, Olivia Stinson 4 points, and Mady Young 4 points. The Lady Panthers were led in scoring by Emma Frymire with 12 points.

St. Mary’s will play in the 3rd place game of the WEAA Conference Tournament at Jasper Grade School on Thursday, December 7th, at 6:00pm, against the loser of the Jasper and Olney St. Joe game. Savannah Zimmerman also advanced to the finals of the 3 Point Shootout and will shoot on Thursday evening.
