Amos Reed, Jr., 83, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed February 18, 2026, at Oakview Heights and Rehabilitation.
He was born on June 26, 1942, in Wabash County, Illinois. Amos was the son of Amos G. and Myrtle Estelle (Springtun) Reed, Sr.
Amos worked as an Equipment Operator for Wabash County Highway Department until his retirement.
He liked gardening, old cars and listening to Country music. Amos was a member of Lick Prairie Christian Church.
Amos is survived by his loved ones: Cathy and (George) Luce, Lisa (Jim) Thompson, Abram Luce, Adam (Olivia) Luce, Aaron (Carter) Luce, Chris Thompson, Katie (Tommy) Gallinaro, Raymond Luce, Nolan Luce and A.J. Gallinaro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Lucille Reed, second wife, Rose Tromley Jones, son, Ralph Reed and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Reed, sister, Helen Reed, and brother, Staff Sgt. Ralph G. Reed who died while serving his country.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 25, 2026, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.
Burial will follow the service at Adams Corner Cemetery.
