Ruth H. Henson, 95, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away on February 10, 2026, at Oakview Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 21, 1930, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She was the daughter of Virgil and Cleates A. (Dill) Adams. Ruth married John Hi Henson on June 18, 1951, in Piggott, Arkansas.
Ruth graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1948. She worked at A. Frank Orr Elevator and Dersch Energies as a bookkeeper.
She loved to travel with her husband, John Hi and take walks with all her grandchildren. Ruth enjoyed doing yardwork, cooking for her family, birdwatching and attending church with her family at Gospel Kingdom. She loved all her church family very much.
Survived by her daughter, Johnnie McKinney of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, daughter-in-law, Vickie Jones of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, sister, Rose Lovellette of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, grandchildren; John Hi Henson II and his wife Melissa of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Nickole and her husband Josh Meier, Eric McKinney, Timothy McKinney, Aaron (Rebecca) McKinney, 11 great-grandchildren: Nick, Savannah, Curt, Ezekiel, Joe, Eli, Jesse, Sydney, Sadie, Michelle, Danielle and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Hi, her son, Nick Henson, sister, Clara Seibert, brothers, Freddie Adams and Harold Adams, and son-in-law, Everett D. McKinney.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at Gospel Kingdom Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Gospel Kingdom Church.
Burial will follow the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
